Frost Shards of Domination Guide for Patch 9.2 (9.2)
The following guide covers everything you need to know about Frost Shards of Domination in Patch 9.1.
Shards of Domination Changes in Patch 9.2
Blizzard confirmed that Shards of Domination will be disabled in Patch 9.2 content, meaning they will not work in Zereth Mortis, Sepulcher of the First Ones, PvP, and dungeons. They will still work within Torghast wings including the new Jailer's Gauntlet challenge wing, however.
Frost Shards of Domination
Patch 9.1 introduces 3 Frost Shards of Domination to the game. They are unique-equipped, so you cannot equip the same shard twice.
- Shard of Cor — Your damage is increased by 1.5% for 20 seconds after attacking an enemy you have not yet damaged.
- Shard of Kyr — Gain 660 Absorb every 5 seconds, up to a cap of 3,300.
- Shard of Tel — Your critical hits cause a nearby ally to absorb the next 171 damage dealt to them within 6 seconds.
We know Shards drop from bosses in the Sanctum of Domination, but Blizzard has not yet put out any information on how exactly that is supposed to work, whether they will be personal loot like Conduits in Castle Nathria, or whether they are actual physical items like relics were in Legion.
Frost Shards of Domination 3-Set Bonus
You must socket 3 Frost Shards into your Domination gear to activate Winds of Winter, a powerful 3-piece set bonus.
- Winds of Winter — While inside The Maw or Torghast, each time you deal a critical strike, the Winds accumulate 6% of that effect, up to a cap of 180 per critical strike. Every 20 seconds, the Winds unleash, dealing Frost damage equal to the total accumulation and absorbing 100% of damage dealt by the Winds.
Frost Shards of Domination Upgrade Ranks
Shards of Domination can be further upgraded to Rank 5 by talking to Bonesmith Heirmir in Korthia. You will need 100 Stygian Embers to fully upgrade your Shard of Domination to Rank 5.
- Rank 2 upgrade costs 5 Stygian Embers.
