Garrison: Alchemy Lab Guide (WoD 6.2)
Table of Contents
The Alchemy Lab is a Small Garrison building that Alchemists and Non-Alchemists can use to craft Draenor-specific Alchemy recipes.
While we explain, in this article, how to unlock all levels of the Alchemy Lab, you may be interested in our guide to unlocking all the Garrison buildings. We also have a guide to leveling Alchemy in Draenor.
Main Perks
For Alchemists, the main perk of the Alchemy Lab is that it allows you to
create a maximum of 12x Alchemical Catalysts per day, in addition to the
10x you can already craft with
Alchemical Catalyst (less with an
Alchemy skill lower than 700). These extra
Catalysts are really useful, because they allow you to make more
Draenor potions and flasks, which means you make more money off the Auction
House. The Alchemy Lab is also
where you buy your Draenor-specific Alchemy recipes.
For Non-Alchemists, the main perk of the Alchemy Lab is that the resident Alchemist of the lab can craft most of the Draenor-specific Alchemy recipes for you, with the exception of the Greater Flasks.

Unlocking the Alchemy Lab
In this section, we are going to tell you how to unlock the Alchemy Lab, Level 1, 2, and 3.
Unlocking the Alchemy Lab, Level 1
The Alchemy Lab Level 1 is unlocked when you upgrade your Town Hall to Level 2.
Alchemists
can build this building with a Town Hall Level 1, because they have
a chance to loot
Mysterious Flask (Alliance) and
Mysterious Flask (Horde).
This item drops from humanoid mobs around Draenor and starts a quest line that eventually rewards
the plan to build the Alchemy Lab,
Garrison Blueprint: Alchemy Lab, Level 1, and
A Treatise on the Alchemy of Draenor,
which teaches basic Draenor recipes that can be used to level up the profession.
If you are
an Alchemist
and the quest item does not drop for you, then you can buy
your
A Treatise on the Alchemy of Draenor
for 100
from the
Alchemist
at your Alchemy Lab, after upgrading your Town Hall to Level 2.
Unlocking the Alchemy Lab, Level 2
Garrison Blueprint: Alchemy Lab, Level 2 is sold by the blueprint vendor at your Garrison once
you reach level
96
or once you complete your
Talador
Outpost. You can buy it with
750
. You can also buy it from the blueprint
vendor in Ashran without restrictions with
an
Outpost Building Assembly Notes, which
can only be obtained twice, once when questing
in Gorgrond and once when questing in the Spires of Arak.
so the purpose of this
Below, you will find the Alliance and Horde
vendors.

Unlocking the Alchemy Lab, Level 3
Garrison Blueprint: Alchemy Lab, Level 3 is a reward from
completing the
Working More Orders achievement, which requires
you to complete 250 Work Orders at your Garrison. This achievement
is account-wide.
Once you complete the achievement, the blueprint is not
directly handed over to you. You still need to buy it from
Sparz Boltwist (Alliance) or Rezlak (Horde)
for 1,000 .
Work Orders
Work Orders are unlocked with your Alchemy Lab Level 1 and allow
you to create Alchemical Catalysts. A Work Order takes 4 hours
to complete and transforms 5x
Frostweed into 1x
Alchemical Catalyst (2x with a level 100 follower assigned
to the Alchemy Lab). This means that you can complete a maximum of 6 Work
Orders per day for a total yield of 6 to 12 Alchemical Catalysts.
Unlocking Work Orders
When you first build the Alchemy Lab on a character, the resident
Alchemist at the lab gives you Your First Alchemy Work Order. To
complete it, talk to the Alchemist's Assistant and give the
required 5x Frostweed. The small box outside the Alchemy Lab
should activate immediately and you can loot the
Alchemy Work Order
that you need to turn in to complete the quest. Doing so rewards you
with 5x
Alchemical Catalysts.
Increasing Yield
After upgrading the Alchemy Lab to Level 2, you can assign a follower
with the Alchemy trait to work at the Alchemy Lab.
The higher the level of your follower, the higher the chance that the Work
Order will generate 2 Alchemical Catalysts instead of
only 1. With a level 100 follower, you are guaranteed to get 2 Alchemical
Catalysts.
While working at the Alchemy Lab, your follower receives experience for every Work Order completed.
Increasing Queue Size
You can queue up to a certain number of Work Orders, depending on your Alchemy Lab's level (7 at Level 1, 14 at Level 2, 21 at Level 3).
Having a Storehouse Level 3 increases the maximum number of Work Orders by 15, which means a maximum of 22 Work Orders at Level 1, 29 at Level 2, and 36 at Level 3.
Being able to queue more Work Orders does not increase your yield, but it does allow you to let more time pass before you have to go back to the Alchemy Lab to refill your queue of Work Orders.
Cost Comparison Between Work Orders and Alchemy Recipe
Alchemical Catalyst costs 20x
Frostweed
and 10x
Blackrock Ore and produces between 4 and 10
Alchemical Catalysts, depending on your Alchemy skill.
Below level 600, you only produce 4. Between level 600 and 700
the yield slowly increases to reach 10 at level 700.
Work Orders cost 5x Frostweed and produce between
1 and 2
Alchemical Catalysts. With no follower or a level 90
follower, you produce only 1. The closer your follower is to 100, the
higher the chance that the yield will be 2. With a follower level 100, you
always produce 2.
Regardless of how you create an Alchemical Catalyst, the cost is
more or less the same. This is due to the fact that having a
Mine Level 1 and
a Herb Garden
Level 2, with a follower assigned to it, will provide you with more than
the 50x Frostweed and 10x
Blackrock Ore that you will need
every day to craft
Alchemical Catalyst and start 6
Work Orders at your Alchemy Lab.
Resident Alchemist
The Alchemist at the Alchemy Lab interacts with you in one of two ways, depending on whether or not you have the Alchemy profession.
For Alchemists
Buying the Draenor Alchemy recipes from the Alchemist in your
Alchemy Lab is the only way to obtain them. Each recipe costs
a number of Secrets of Draenor Alchemy. You can make
one of these items every day using the
Secrets of Draenor Alchemy
Alchemy recipe, which costs 5x
Frostweed. The table below
lists all of the recipes you can buy and the amount of Secrets of Draenor
Alchemy it costs to buy them (though some of them only require Gold).

Small Pouch of Coins is not a recipe, but an item that contains a bit of Gold
(approximately 2
). This is a way to spend your
Secrets of Draenor Alchemy, once you have acquired all the recipes.
For Non-Alchemists
For Non-Alchemists, the Alchemist in your Alchemy Lab can craft
most of the high-end Draenor Alchemy recipes, except for
Draenic Rejuvenation Potion, Greater flasks,
Draenic Philosopher's Stone, and
Alchemical Catalyst
(which can be obtained only through Work Orders). Crafting an item
through your Alchemist costs exactly the same quantity of materials
it does when a regular Alchemist crafts it.
Some of the recipes are locked
until you reach a certain level with the Alchemy Lab (see table below).
