Garrison: Gem Boutique Guide (WoD 6.2)
Table of Contents
The Gem Boutique is a Small Garrison building that Jewelcrafters and Non-Jewelcrafters can use to craft Draenor-specific Jewelcrafting recipes.
While we explain, in this article, how to unlock all levels of the Gem Boutique, you may be interested in our guide to unlocking all the Garrison buildings. We also have a guide to leveling Jewelcrafting in Draenor.
Main Perks
For Jewelcrafters, the main perk of the Gem Boutique is that it allows you to
create a maximum of 12x Taladite Crystals per day, in addition to the
10x
you can already craft with
Taladite Crystal (less with an
Jewelcrafting skill lower than 700). These extra
Crystals are really useful, because they allow you to craft more
Draenor recipes, which means you make more money off the Auction
House and you level up Jewelcrafting to 700 faster. The Gem Boutique is also
where you buy your Draenor-specific Jewelcrafting recipes.
For Non-Jewelcrafters, the main perk of the Gem Boutique is that the resident Jewelcrafter can craft most of the Draenor-specific Jewelcrafting recipes for you.

Unlocking the Gem Boutique
In this section, we are going to tell you how to unlock the Gem Boutique, Level 1, 2, and 3.
Unlocking the Gem Boutique, Level 1
The Gem Boutique Level 1 is unlocked when you upgrade your Town Hall to Level 2.
Jewelcrafters
can build this building with a Town Hall Level 1, because they have
a chance to loot
Drained Crystal Fragment (Alliance) and
Intricate Crimson Pendant (Horde).
This item drops from humanoid mobs around Draenor and starts a quest line that eventually rewards
the plan to build the Gem Boutique,
Garrison Blueprint: Gem Boutique, Level 1, and
Draenor Jewelcrafting,
which teaches basic Draenor recipes that can be used to level up the profession.
If you are
a Jewelcrafter
and the quest item does not drop for you, then you can buy
your
Draenor Jewelcrafting
for 100
from the
Jewelcrafter
at your Gem Boutique, after upgrading your Town Hall to Level 2.
Unlocking the Gem Boutique, Level 2
Garrison Blueprint: Gem Boutique, Level 2 is sold by the blueprint vendor at your Garrison once
you reach level
96
or once you complete your
Talador
Outpost. You can buy it with
750
. You can also buy it from the blueprint
vendor in Ashran without restrictions with
an
Outpost Building Assembly Notes, which
can only be obtained twice, once when questing
in Gorgrond and once when questing in the Spires of Arak.
so the purpose of this
Below, you will find the Alliance and Horde
vendors.

Unlocking the Gem Boutique, Level 3
Garrison Blueprint: Gem Boutique, Level 3 is a reward from
completing the
Working More Orders achievement, which requires
you to complete 250 Work Orders at your Garrison. This achievement
is account-wide.
Once you complete the achievement, the blueprint is not
directly handed over to you. You still need to buy it from
Sparz Boltwist (Alliance) or Rezlak (Horde)
for 1,000 .
Work Orders
Work Orders are unlocked with your Gem Boutique Level 1 and allow
you to create Taladite Crystals. A Work Order takes 4 hours
to complete and transforms 5x
Blackrock Ore into 1x
Taladite Crystal (2x with a level 100 follower assigned
to the Gem Boutique). This means that you can complete a maximum of 6 Work
Orders per day for a total yield of 6 to 12 Taladite Crystals.
Unlocking Work Orders
When you first build the Gem Boutique on a character, the resident
Jewelcrafter at the building gives you Your First Jewelcrafting Work Order. To
complete it, talk to the Jewelcrafter's Assistant and give the
required 5x Blackrock Ore. The small box outside the Gem Boutique
should activate immediately and you can loot the
Jewelcrafting Work Order
that you need to turn in to complete the quest. Doing so rewards you
with 5x
Taladite Crystals.
Increasing Yield
After upgrading the Gem Boutique to Level 2, you can assign a follower
with the Jewelcrafting trait to work at the Gem Boutique.
The higher the level of your follower, the higher the chance that the Work
Order will generate 2 Taladite Crystals instead of
only 1. With a level 100 follower, you are guaranteed to get 2 Taladite Crystals.
While working at the Gem Boutique, your follower receives experience for every Work Order completed.
Increasing Queue Size
You can queue up to a certain number of Work Orders, depending on your Gem Boutique's level (7 at Level 1, 14 at Level 2, 21 at Level 3).
Having a Storehouse Level 3 increases the maximum number of Work Orders by 15, which means a maximum of 22 Work Orders at Level 1, 29 at Level 2, and 36 at Level 3.
Being able to queue more Work Orders does not increase your yield, but it does allow you to let more time pass before you have to go back to the Gem Boutique to refill your queue of Work Orders.
Cost Comparison Between Work Orders and Jewelcrafting Recipe
Taladite Crystal costs 20x
Blackrock Ore and
10x
True Iron Ore, and produces between 4 and 10
Taladite Crystals, depending on your Jewelcrafting skill.
Below level 600, you only produce 4. Between level 600 and 700
the yield slowly increases to reach 10 at level 700.
Work Orders cost 5x Blackrock Ore and produce between
1 and 2
Taladite Crystals. With no follower or a level 90
follower, you produce only 1. The closer your follower is to 100, the
higher the chance that the yield will be 2. With a follower level 100, you
always produce 2.
The cheapest of the two methods is the Work Orders (we consider
Blackrock Ore and
True Iron Ore to have the same value,
because you can find them as easily in Draenor). That said,
using
Taladite Crystal every day and keeping your Work
Orders queue full is very easy, thanks to the
Mine in your Garrison.
Resident Jewelcrafter
The Jewelcrafter at the Gem Boutique interacts with you in one of two ways, depending on whether or not you have the Jewelcrafting profession.
For Jewelcrafters
Buying the Draenor Jewelcrafting recipes from the Jewelcrafter in your
Gem Boutique is the only way to obtain them. Each recipe costs
a number of Secrets of Draenor Jewelcrafting. You can make
one of these items every day using the
Secrets of Draenor Jewelcrafting
Jewelcrafting recipe, which costs 5x
Blackrock Ore. The table below
lists all of the recipes you can buy and the amount of Secrets of Draenor
Jewelcrafting it costs to buy them.

Small Pouch of Coins is not a recipe, but an item that contains a bit of Gold
(approximately 2
). This is a way to spend your
Secrets of Draenor Jewelcrafting, once you have acquired all the recipes.
For Non-Jewelcrafters
For Non-Jewelcrafters, the Jewelcrafter in your Gem Boutique can craft
most of the high-end Draenor Jewelcrafting recipes, except for
item upgrades, Greater gems (the +50 stat versions), and
Taladite Crystal
(which can be obtained only through Work Orders). Crafting an item
through your Jewelcrafter costs exactly the same quantity of materials
it does when a regular Jewelcrafter crafts it. Some of the recipes are locked
until you reach a certain level with the Gem Boutique (see table below).

Extra Perk from Follower
In addition to increasing your yield of Taladite Crystals,
your follower gives you a Jewelcrafting
Special Order daily quest. Completing the quest requires you to craft
a Jewelcrafting item and rewards you with a
Jewelcrafting Payment.
This item contains 200
in average, so you should check
the Auction House to see if the reagents required to craft the quest item(s)
do not cost more than you can hope to loot from the Jewelcrafting Payment.
