Garrison: The Forge Guide (WoD 6.2)
Table of Contents
The Forge is a Small Garrison building that Blacksmiths and Non-Blacksmiths can use to craft Draenor-specific Blacksmithing recipes.
While we explain, in this article, how to unlock all levels of the Forge, you may be interested in our guide to unlocking all the Garrison buildings. We also have a guide to leveling Blacksmithing in Draenor.
Main Perks
For Blacksmiths, the main perk of the Forge is that it allows you to
create a maximum of 12x Truesteel Ingots per day, in addition to the
10x
you can already craft with
Truesteel Ingot (less with a
Blacksmithing skill lower than 700). These extra
Ingots are really useful, because they allow you to craft more
Draenor recipes, which means you make more money off the Auction
House and you level up Blacksmithing to 700 faster. The Forge is also
where you buy your Draenor-specific Blacksmithing recipes.
For Non-Blacksmiths, the main perk of the Forge is that the resident Blacksmith can craft most of the Draenor-specific Blacksmithing recipes for you, with the exception of the weapon enchants.

Unlocking the Forge
In this section, we are going to tell you how to unlock the Forge, Level 1, 2, and 3.
Unlocking the Forge, Level 1
The Forge Level 1 is unlocked when you upgrade your Town Hall to Level 2.
Blacksmiths
can build this building with a Town Hall Level 1, because they have
a chance to loot
Haephest's Satchel (Alliance) and
Fractured Forge Hammer (Horde).
This item drops from humanoid mobs around Draenor and starts a quest line that eventually rewards
the plan to build the Forge,
Garrison Blueprint: The Forge, Level 1, and
Draenor Blacksmithing,
which teaches basic Draenor recipes that can be used to level up the profession.
If you are
a Blacksmith
and the quest item does not drop for you, then you can buy
your
Draenor Blacksmithing
for 100
from the
Blacksmith
at your Forge, after upgrading your Town Hall to Level 2.
Unlocking the Forge, Level 2
Garrison Blueprint: The Forge, Level 2 is sold by the blueprint vendor at your Garrison once
you reach level
96
or once you complete your
Talador
Outpost. You can buy it with
750
. You can also buy it from the blueprint
vendor in Ashran without restrictions with
an
Outpost Building Assembly Notes, which
can only be obtained twice, once when questing
in Gorgrond and once when questing in the Spires of Arak.
so the purpose of this
Below, you will find the Alliance and Horde
vendors.

Unlocking the Forge, Level 3
Garrison Blueprint: The Forge, Level 3 is a reward from
completing the
Working More Orders achievement, which requires
you to complete 250 Work Orders at your Garrison. This achievement
is account-wide.
Once you complete the achievement, the blueprint is not
directly handed over to you. You still need to buy it from
Sparz Boltwist (Alliance) or Rezlak (Horde)
for 1,000 .
Work Orders
Work Orders are unlocked with your Forge Level 1 and allow
you to create Truesteel Ingots. A Work Order takes 4 hours
to complete and transforms 5x
True Iron Ore into 1x
Truesteel Ingot (2x with a level 100 follower assigned
to the Forge). This means that you can complete a maximum of 6 Work
Orders per day for a total yield of 6 to 12 Truesteel Ingots.
Unlocking Work Orders
When you first build the Forge on a character, the resident
Blacksmith at the building gives you Your First Blacksmithing Work Order. To
complete it, talk to the Blacksmith's Assistant and give the
required 5x True Iron Ore. The small box outside the Forge
should activate immediately and you can loot the
Blacksmithing Work Order
that you need to turn in to complete the quest. Doing so rewards you
with 5x
Truesteel Ingots.
Increasing Yield
After upgrading the Forge to Level 2, you can assign a follower
with the Blacksmithing trait to work at the Forge.
The higher the level of your follower, the higher the chance that the Work
Order will generate 2 Truesteel Ingots instead of
only 1. With a level 100 follower, you are guaranteed to get 2 Truesteel
Ingots.
While working at the Forge, your follower receives experience for every Work Order completed.
Increasing Queue Size
You can queue up to a certain number of Work Orders, depending on your Forge's level (7 at Level 1, 14 at Level 2, 21 at Level 3).
Having a Storehouse Level 3 increases the maximum number of Work Orders by 15, which means a maximum of 22 Work Orders at Level 1, 29 at Level 2, and 36 at Level 3.
Being able to queue more Work Orders does not increase your yield, but it does allow you to let more time pass before you have to go back to the Forge to refill your queue of Work Orders.
Cost Comparison Between Work Orders and Blacksmithing Recipe
Truesteel Ingot costs 20x
True Iron Ore and
10x
Blackrock Ore, and produces between 4 and 10
Truesteel Ingots, depending on your Blacksmithing skill.
Below level 600, you only produce 4. Between level 600 and 700
the yield slowly increases to reach 10 at level 700.
Work Orders cost 5x True Iron Ore and produce between
1 and 2
Truesteel Ingots. With no follower or a level 90
follower, you produce only 1. The closer your follower is to 100, the
higher the chance that the yield will be 2. With a follower level 100, you
always produce 2.
As you can see, using Work Orders to craft Truesteel Ingots is less
expensive than using the Blacksmithing recipe. So, if you are short on
materials, you should prioritise Work Orders (unless, of course, you
have reached Blacksmithing level 700 and have no follower, or a
low-level follower, in your Forge). That said,
the Mine in your Garrison
should provide you with more than enough materials to allow you
to use the Blacksmithing recipe every day and to keep
your Work Orders queue full.
Resident Blacksmith
The Blacksmith at the Forge interacts with you in one of two ways, depending on whether or not you have the Blacksmithing profession.
For Blacksmiths
Buying the Draenor Blacksmithing recipes from the Blacksmith in your
Forge is the only way to obtain them. Each recipe costs
a number of Secrets of Draenor Blacksmithing. You can make
one of these items every day using the
Secrets of Draenor Blacksmithing
Blacksmithing recipe, which costs 5x
True Iron Ore. The table below
lists all of the recipes you can buy and the amount of Secrets of Draenor
Blacksmithing it costs to buy them.

Small Pouch of Coins is not a recipe, but an item that contains a bit of Gold
(approximately 2
). This is a way to spend your
Secrets of Draenor Blacksmithing, once you have acquired all the recipes.
For Non-Blacksmiths
For Non-Blacksmiths, the Blacksmith in your Forge can craft
most of the high-end Draenor Blacksmithing recipes, except for
Soul of the Forge, Draenic Steel items, item upgrades, and
Truesteel Ingot
(which can be obtained only through Work Orders). Crafting an item
through your Blacksmith costs exactly the same quantity of materials
it does when a regular Blacksmith crafts it.
Some of the recipes are locked
until you reach a certain level with the Forge (see table below).

Extra Perk from Follower
In addition to increasing your yield of Truesteel Ingots,
your follower grants you 2 buffs:
Song of the Anvil and
Solace of the Forge. To get these buffs, talk to your follower
at the Forge. It should be noted that the buffs do not persist through death.
