Guardian Druid Tank Castle Nathria Raid Guide — Dragonflight 10.2.5
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Guardian Druid for each boss of the following raid: Castle Nathria. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Dragonflight 10.2.5.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Guardian Druid specific information to deal with each boss in the Castle Nathria raid.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Guardian Druid and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
The following Legendary Power recommendations are going to suggest using either The Natural Order's Will or Ursoc's Fury Remembered as defensive options and Legacy of the Sleeper for an offensive choice.
As a note, all information provided was given before the release of Dragonflight and therefore will not reflect any changes made after the release of the Dragonflight Pre-patch.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
Boss Cheatsheet
The following talent builds works well for every single boss encounter.
You can easily import the talent tree below into the game with the following string:
- BgGAGX1kx6Mci9Zl2t+S+sRoPCAAAAAAAAAAAAASEJJplAkEJQEJNKCAOACSgkkkkkAAAAAAAAQEA
Shriekwing
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Shriekwing.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- As a tank you want to position the boss close to one of the several pillars around the room so that the raid can safely line of sight some of his casts.
- Taunt swap each time the boss casts Exsanguinating Bite.
- There is no Mythic-specific mechanical changes from Normal/Heroic making this quite an easy fight for tanks, as we just taunt swap on Exsanguinating Bite and dodge the Echoing Screech rings on the ground.
For more information, please refer to our Shriekwing guide.
Huntsman Altimor
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Huntsman Altimor.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank the main boss centrally for the majority of the fight.
- In terms of CC for the Destabilize mechanic, you can use Hibernate.
- Use a defensive cooldown each time Rip Soul is cast on you if you are tanking that dog at the time.
- If you are solely tanking the Huntsman himself, then it should be noted that Earthwarden does not work on his attacks and will likely be a waste of talent on this fight.
- Taunt swap at 2-3 stacks of Jagged Claws.
- There is nothing mechanically different for Mythic compared to Normal/Heroic for tanks on this fight.
For more information, please refer to our Huntsman Altimor guide.
Hungering Destroyer
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Hungering Destroyer.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank the boss at an outside edge of the room.
- Taunt swap on each Overwhelm or when the boss hits 5 stacks of Hungering Strikes.
- Use Stampeding Roar when the boss casts Consume.
- There is no significant changes for the Mythic version of this boss for us as tanks.
For more information, please refer to our Hungering Destroyer guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Artificer Xy'Mox.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank the boss in the right side of the room as often as possible.
- Taunt swap on each cast of Glyph of Destruction.
- Use Stampeding Roar to help your raid run out of Edge of Annihilation.
- The Glyph of Destruction can be quite painful on Mythic so make sure you rotate a cooldown for each cast.
For more information, please refer to our Artificer Xy'Mox guide.
Sun King's Salvation
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Sun King's Salvation.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Face the Shade of Kael'thas away from the raid at all times.
- Assist your raid in soaking Ember Blast when you are not actively tanking the boss.
- Interrupt Vulgar Brand as often as you can.
- In Mythic, it is quite frequent to heal the boss up extremely quickly, you can assist with this but using Heart of the Wild and Restoration Affinity.
For more information, please refer to our Sun King's Salvation guide.
Lady Inerva Darkvein
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Lady Inerva Darkvein.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank the boss centrally, towards the canisters.
- Cycle defensives on each Expose Desires.
- On Mythic, Expose Desires will summon small ghosts that you must face as they charge through you or will take massive amounts of damage and very likely die.
For more information, please refer to our Lady Inerva Darkvein guide.
The Council of Blood
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against The Council of Blood.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank all of the bosses together, but face Lord Stavros away from the raid.
- Taunt swap at 2-3 stacks of Evasive Lunge and Duelist's Riposte.
- Interrupt Dreadbolt Volley.
- In Mythic, there is Dancing Fever, which will cause a lot more tank/raid damage and you will likely have to run over and tank some large gargoyle adds in the last phase.
For more information, please refer to our The Council of Blood guide.
Sludgefist
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Sludgefist.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank the boss where he spawns and keep him at least 20 yards away from any pillars at all times.
- Always stay within 5 yards of your co-tank as all of the boss's attacks cleave.
- When the boss casts Heedless Charge, aim him towards a pillar.
- Save defensives for below 30%, as the boss enrages and does significantly more damage.
- For Mythic, you will have to soak the debris that fall from the ground without breaking your chain to the other tank. This can be quite a bit of tank damage so start off playing relatively defensively.
For more information, please refer to our Sludgefist guide.
Stone Legion Generals
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Stone Legion Generals.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Tank the bosses in the middle of the room.
- Taunt swap on every cast of Crystalize, and then stand on the player with the yellow circle to cleanse your debuff.
- In Mythic, there are quite a few more adds that come in throughout the fight, but apart from that it is quite similar to Normal/Heroic.
For more information, please refer to our Stone Legion Generals guide.
Sire Denathrius
We advise you to use the following Legendaries against Sire Denathrius.
- Legacy of the Sleeper
- The Natural Order's Will
Tips
- Pull the boss towards the middle of the room before he casts Command: Ravage.
- Soak every second cast of Cleansing Pain in Phase One.
- Cycle defensives on each cast of Shattering Pain.
- In Phase Three, taunt swap each time your Scorn debuff expires.
- The Mythic version of this fight is relatively similar to Normal/Heroic, the main difference for us as tanks is the mirror mechanic which splits the group makes it so you wont receive as much healing as you are used to.
For more information, please refer to our Sire Denathrius guide.

This guide has been written by Pumps who has played since Vanilla and has tanked in Honestly, the #1 Oceanic raiding guild, since Mists of Pandaria. He also played in the first MDI Mythic+ Dungeon Tournament, where his team placed second. His mindset on tanking has always been taking the utility and damage one can bring to the raid to the next level. He was the #1 Rank DPS Guardian Druid for 5 tiers in a row and top the 1-6 for the last 12 tiers, playing Guardian Druid, Brewmaster Monk and Protection Warrior mainly based on what is the strongest for progression at the time.
