Havoc Demon Hunter Leveling Guide for The War Within
Welcome to our Leveling Guide for The War Within. This will help you in your journey to max level as a Havoc Demon Hunter, covering talents and abilities you should know about.
Havoc Demon Hunter Leveling Playstyle
Havoc Demon Hunter deals massive frontloaded AoE burst while leveling, and is suited to pulling a large amount of enemies to kill them quickly. It also has excellent self-sustain, which means you do not usually have to worry about how much you pull. It is also well suited to dungeons because of this AoE toolkit, but you may find your queues go faster if you do so as Vengeance instead, to tank.
Gear Options
When leveling up, you should always choose the piece of loot with the highest item level. You will be replacing these gear pieces very quickly, so just equip whatever comes to you without worrying about secondary stats.
Best Leveling Talents For Havoc Demon Hunter
Unlike many classes, you start at Level 8 and enter into the Demon Hunter intro campaign on Mardum. Some abilities are unlocked as you progress through this story segment, granting access to your core Havoc abilities when you select your specialization at Level 10.
At level 10, you will unlock Vengeful Retreat, an extra movement tool
to pair with
Fel Rush which you should have already unlocked. Your first
spec tree point is
Eye Beam - a powerful burst AoE cooldown.
Your talents can be changed anywhere in the world as long as you are out of combat. Be sure to explore various combinations of talents at will while leveling to get a feel of the gameplay flow. We have provided a sample leveling path below that introduces core Havoc concepts over the course of your journey.

recommend playing with Fel-Scarred to empower your
Metamorphosis
with
Demonsurge.
Key Concepts
As you level and populate the talent tree, Havoc gains access to additional tools to navigate the world outside of just its rotation. This section will grow alongside the slider with each level.
- Remember to Recuperate! - Whenever you're low on health between pulls,
you can use the
Recuperate ability available to all classes to quickly recover.
- Use your Movement! - Havoc has access to
Fel Rush, allowing you to quickly cross distances to stay in the fight.
- Use your Movement! - Havoc has access to
Fel Rush, and
Vengeful Retreat, giving you two ways to quickly jump between targets.
- Use your Movement! - Havoc has access to
Fel Rush, and
Vengeful Retreat, giving you two ways to quickly jump between tartets.
Felblade also charges your target.
- Leverage your Healing - Havoc heals from killing
enemies with
Shattered Souls orbs.
- Leverage your Healing - Havoc heals from killing
enemies with
Shattered Souls orbs.
Soul Rending also provides significant Leech (especially while in
Metamorphosis), so pull big!
- Remember your Defense -
Blur is a strong defensive, especially against enemies that auto-attack a lot. Use it frequently!

Survival Tools
Havoc has a habit of pulling big and getting into dangerous situations, but luckily it comes with a variety of tools to help manage this:
Shattered Souls spawn when killing an enemy, healing for a percentage of health.
- If you ever find yourself stuck or caught in a dangerous
situation,
Fel Rush dashes and
Vengeful Retreat can almost always get you out of it.
Blur has a high duration and a low cooldown, so don't be afraid to use it if you ever feel unsafe.
Chaos Nova gives you an emergency AoE stun if you're caught in a bad situation, alongside
Fel Eruption for particularly dangerous single enemies.
Havoc Demon Hunter War Mode Talents for Leveling
In this section, we will rank the PvP talents for leveling and doing solo or small-group PvE content. Below is a ranking of both General PvP Talents and Havoc Demon Hunter-specific PvE talents.
Chaotic Imprint will always buff Chaos damage dealt, such as
Chaos Strike and
Eye Beam. Also great to pair with talents such as
Soulscar due to the conversion to magic damage, causing
Throw Glaive to deal significantly more damage.
Unending Hatred is just free additional Fury generation when taking damage.
Sigil Mastery reduces the cooldown of sigils, such as
Sigil of Spite, which is a small DPS gain.
Reverse Magic,
Detainment,
Cover of Darkness,
Cleansed by Flame and
Glimpse
all have very limited uses in PvE, due to it being very focused on crowd
control tools or pressuring enemy players into spending more resources
than they would otherwise want to.
