Lore
Helya is the final boss in the Trial of Valor Raid Instance.
Though she once served as Odyn's right hand, the vengeful Helya will stop at nothing to ensure her ancient curse binds the titan keeper to the Halls of Valor. No longer satisfied with ruling her shadowy realm, Helya now commands her vast kvaldir army to plague the lands of the living.
Outline
The fight against Helya has three distinct phases that test a variety of different skill checks. The fight starts as a control encounter with several mechanics that rely on raid organization to proceed. However, as your group gets further into the fight, it evolves to become a frantic race to the finish as both the intensity and raid damage mount to a fever pitch.
Here is a preview of the fight from the PTR.
TL;DR
Tanks
- Tanks face the boss slightly off to the side to avoid hitting the raid with breath cone, but not so far as to spawn adds on the upper levels.
- The tanks swap after every breath.
- The Helya tank will always get
Taint of the Sea while the offtank will always get a
Orb of Corruption.
- The Grimelord and the Night Watch Mariner should be tanked separately. They should be kept near Gripping Tentacles for passive cleave.
- One tank should always stay in range of the boss no matter what
to avoid
Corrosive Nova.
- Plan cooldowns appropriately for
Anchor Slam and
Ghostly Rage.
Healers
- Dispel
Taint of the Sea.
- Plan cooldowns appropriately for
Bilewater Liquefaction and
Fury of the Maw.
- Heal players who have soaked
Corrupted Axions recently to break the healing absorb.
Everyone
- Avoid getting hit by Helya's breaths if you are not the current tank.
- If you are fixated by
Rabid, bring the Decaying Minion into the designated stack point.
- Avoid being hit by
Orb of Corruption and
Orb of Corrosion, and ensure they are kited correctly.
Mythic Notes
Most of the mechanics are similar to their lower difficulty counterparts, but the positioning and strategy are notably different on a few counts:
- Stack points for
Taint of the Sea and
Orb of Corruption should be set to reduce movement and avoid
Corrupted Slicers.
- The Bilewater Slimes must be dealt with effectively as the damage is much higher on Mythic.
- Quickly deal with the Helarjar Mistcallers before they can get
off more than a single cast of
Mist Infusion.
- Avoid spreading
Fetid Rot as it now pulses on each tick.
- Be wary of the increased
Give No Quarter zones to dodge.
- Use the same stack point for
Orb of Corrosion as was used for
Orb of Corruption to deal with the
Corrupted Slicers and
Decay patches.
- Assign players to soak
Corrupted Axions in Phase Three and ensure the healing debuff is healed immediately to avoid these players becoming
Corrupted.
Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp
We advise you to use Bloodlust/
Heroism/
Time Warp during the final
Phase. The first two phases of the fight are about control, while the final Phase is a race to
the finish to kill the boss before the raid damage is too high from
Fury of the Maw.
Bloodlust/
Heroism/
Time Warp can also be an invaluable healing cooldown
in this Phase.
