Lore
High Botanist Tel'arn is one of the 5 bosses that can be fought in an order of the raid's choosing.
From his youth, the nightborne Tel'arn was fascinated by plant life: the resilience and adaptability of weed, the ability of simple grass to harness the power of the sun, the way a tree may be divided into two, or two branches grafted into one. Aided by the energies of the Nightwell, he has transformed himself to the point that he is scarcely recognizable as a nightborne elf. He now considers himself something far, far greater.
Outline
High Botanist Tel'arn is a 3-phase encounter in the Nighthold. It begins as single target fight with light add cleave, but progresses into a council style fight with multiple bosses as the encounter proceeds. Most of the fight revolves around zone control and management, and is a test of mechanical prowess and reactivity.
TL;DR
Tanks
- Taunt swap when Recursive Strikes reaches 7+ stacks.
- When Tel'arn splits into new images, pick them up and tank them.
- Quickly move the bosses out of Grace of Nature when the Naturalist places it.
Healers
- Dispel Parasitic Fetter immediately once your group has moved away from the target.
- Have cooldowns prepared for Plasma Explosion.
DPS
- Quickly move away from Parasitic Fetter targets and eliminate the Parasitic Lashers as quickly as possible. If the fixate is on you, kite the lashers so you do not get hit by them.
- Stagger damage on the Summon Plasma Spheres so they die at different times.
- Stack on an unmarked player if you are afflicted with Call of Night.
Everyone
- Kill Parasitic Lashers as fast as possible.
- Avoid Solar Collapse and Controlled Chaos as they can deal lethal damage if they connect with you directly.
- Avoid touching any Toxic Spores.
Mythic Notes
- The encounter starts with all 3 forms active. They heal to full health each time one is killed.
- Each time a form is killed, some of its abilities are absorbed by the remaining form(s), causing new and augmented abilities depending on the order in which they are killed. The best kill order is Naturalist, followed by Arcanist, and finally Solarist.
- See our Mythic page for full notation as the this fight has a variety of positional intricacies.
Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp
It is recommended that you use Bloodlust when Tel'arn reaches 50% health, as he will be split into 3 images with shared health. This allows for maximum boss DPS due to cleave and multi-dot. This is also the most dangerous part of the fight, and the goal is to finish it as quickly as possible.
