Disclaimer
This page is meant to be a rough outline of what to do on each fight as a Holy Paladin specifically. It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the mechanics and strategy of each encounter on our Castle Nathria section. These guides and their talent recommendations are purely for progression kills, allowing you to increase your chances of killing the bosses.
Tips on this page were written with Season 4 in mind and not any Dragonflight changes that have occurred to the class.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.

Shriekwing
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Shriekwing: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- There are frequent healing reductions on this fight, avoid funneling big heals into players who have high stacks of the Exsanguinated debuff.
- There can be line of sight issues with the pillars on the room, so try to position yourself as best as possible to heal allies around the room.
- Constantly dodge sonar circles that spawn from the boss. Being hit by one of them will cause you to trigger Descent.
- On Mythic Difficulty: you will be unable to see the sonar orbs spawned from the boss. In order to see them, you must gain stacks of Bloodlight, which you can gain from standing on The Blood Lantern. Standing on it for too long will leave a dangerous debuff on you.
For more information, please refer to our Shriekwing guide.
Huntsman Altimor
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Huntsman Altimor: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Heal the souls spawned from Rip Soul before they hit the boss, if they are not healed in time he will gain a major damage increase.
For more information, please refer to our Huntsman Altimor guide.
Sun King's Salvation
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sun King's Salvation: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Venthyr
Tips
- When pulling the boss, you will want to start by placing Ashen Hallow on the raid, Beacon of Light on Kael'Thas, and then proceeding to use both Holy Avenger and Avenging Wrath. From there, you will want to cast Holy Light on Kael'Thas to generate Holy Power and then also spending it on Kael'Thas by casting Word of Glory. This will allow you to heal the boss extremely quickly and phase fast.
- Running through Infuser's Boon will give you a stacking healing increase. Running through one right as your buff is about to fade will cause the duration of your buff to reset. You want to run through them right as your healing buff is expiring to maximize uptime on it.
- You can use Beacon of Light on Kael'thas, which will provide you with 0 overhealing and help phase the boss quicker.
- After killing certain adds, essence fonts will spawn around the room, healing them to full health will heal Kael'Thas for an extremely large amount.
- Generally we wouldn't recommend casting heals on your Beacon of Light target. On Kael'Thas casting on beacons is acceptable and even recommended in order to heal up the boss as quickly as possible.
For more information, please refer to our Sun King's Salvation guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Artificer Xy'Mox: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Save Divine Steed for when you need to either drop a Dimensional Tear or walk through one.
- Prioritize healing on targets with Withering Touch. You can even use Blessing of Sacrifice on them to reduce the damage they are taking.
- Do not be afraid to use Divine Shield when being chased by a ghost to prevent yourself from being mindcontrolled.
For more information, please refer to our Artificer Xy'Mox guide.
Hungering Destroyer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Hungering Destroyer: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Prioritize healing on targets currently soaking the Gluttonous Miasma.
For more information, please refer to our Hungering Destroyer guide.
Lady Inerva Darkvein
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Lady Inerva Darkvein: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Prioritize healing on targets suffering from Shared Cognition.
- Damage will ramp as the fight goes on, try to have Avenging Wrath and Aura Mastery off cooldown late in the fight.
- If you are struggling to keep tanks alive, you can opt into playing Beacon of Faith to help give them more healing.
For more information, please refer to our Lady Inerva Darkvein guide.
The Council of Blood
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Council of Blood: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- This fight can be very movement-intensive. Try to save Divine Steed for Danse Macabre so you can get to your place quicker. It is not uncommon to get a spawn on the other side of the room. You won't be able to make it without your charger being off cooldown.
For more information, please refer to our The Council of Blood guide.
Sludgefist
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sludgefist: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- As the fight goes on, you will be taking increasing ticking damage. Try to ensure your cooldowns are available late into the fight when the damage is the highest.
- Refrain from using movement abilities when you have Chain Link. Using them could put you at risk of out ranging your partner and killing you both. Move slowly with them to minimize this risk.
- At 20% health, the boss will enrage increasing his damage done.
For more information, please refer to our Sludgefist guide.
Stone Legion Generals
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Stone Legion Generals: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Coordinate with your co-healers how you want to handle Heart Rend. Dispelling this will leave a debuff on the player dispelled that will deal very high damage over it's duration. Prioritize your healing on anyone with these debuffs as they are in significant danger until the debuffs fall off.
- You can immune Pulverizing Meteor with Divine Shield, but you will generally want to get hit by this ability to remove your Wicked Laceration and Serrated Tear stacks.
- The bleeds on this encounter cannot be removed with Blessing of Protection.
- When the goliath leaps onto your allies, Blessing of Protection will prevent them from taking damage from the goliath. It will also prevent damage taken from Reverberating Eruption.
For more information, please refer to our Stone Legion Generals guide.
Sire Denathrius
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Sire Denathrius: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Players targeted by Impale and Fatal Finesse will take large amounts of damage, make sure to heal them up quickly so they are not in danger after.
- When the boss is transitioning, you can cast Blessing of Freedom right before he does so to remove the slow from March of the Penitent TEMPORARILY. After freedom fades, the slow will return.
- Position close to the boss with your back towards a walkway so that you aren't knocked off by Shattering Pain.
- Save Divine Steed for when you need to go through the mirrors. It can be tricky to get to them in time depending on positioning, having your steed available can help reduce the risk.
- If you choose to run Unbreakable Spirit, you will have Divine Protection for every Blood Price. Since the raid is stacked for the most part, rule of law won't provide nearly as much value, giving you the option to play unbreakable spirit for increased survivability.
For more information, please refer to our Sire Denathrius guide.
