Disclaimer
In this section, you will find information pertaining to each boss individually in Sepulcher of the First Ones. These tips and build recommendations assume that you have access to both the Holy Paladin 4-Piece set bonus and two legendaries.
Tips on this page were written with Season 4 in mind and not any Dragonflight changes that have occurred to the class.
During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination, and Sepulcher of the First Ones will be simultaneously featured as Fated Raids. During this time encounters within each specific raid will include an additional mechanic and items will drop at increased item levels. If you would like to learn more general information about the Fated Raids system as a whole, please see our overview below. Otherwise, continue to use this page for specialization-specific tips.
Talents

Vigilant Guardian
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Vigilant Guardian: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Venthyr
Tips
- The main value in playing Venthyr is due to Core Overload that occurs when the boss reaches 15%. This does large ticking damage on the raid and you will want to kill the boss before it kills you. Using Ashen Hallow here is extremely strong.
For more information, please refer to our Vigilant Guardian guide.
Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Placing Beacon of Light on your ranged players soaking the extra damage from Dust Blast will help keep them alive.
- Regardless of being melee or pressing Divine Shield, you will still need to run to stack with your raid members for Ravening Burrow
For more information, please refer to our Skolex, the Insatiable Ravener guide.
Artificer Xy'Mox
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Artificer Xy'mox: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Venthyr
Tips
- Divine Shield CANNOT be used to clear the Continuum Stasis Trap on Mythic difficulty.
- Divine Shield can be used to immune the damage from Genesis Rings, allow you to travel freely through the rings.
- Ashen Hallow will be strong in either intermission phase where the raid is taking stacking dot damage from Genesis Supernova.
Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Venthyr
Tips
- Venthyr players should make use of Door of Shadows to bypass the Disintegration Halo damage and debuff.
- Divine Shield can also be used to prevent the damage and debuff application.
- The sole reason to play Venthyr on this fight is to skip over Disintegration Halo, if you are not doing this actively, Necrolord may perform better.
For more information, please refer to our Dausegne, the Fallen Oracle guide.
Prototype Pantheon
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Prototype Pantheon: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Divine Shield will cause your Sinful Projection debuff to expire early and shoot lines towards your party members right away, potentially killing your allies.
For more information, please refer to our PrototypePantheon guide.
Lihuvim, Principal Architect
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Lihuvim, Principal Architect: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Line up your key abilities: Vanquisher's Hammer and Beacon of Virtue (if talented) with the few main damage windows of the fight.
- Make sure your Avenging Wrath is off cooldown for each intermission phase. You will also want to keep two charges of Vanquisher's Hammer for this window.
For more information, please refer to our Lihuvim, Principal Architect guide.
Halondrus the Reclaimer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Halondrus the Reclaimer: Shadowbreaker, Dawn of the Sun.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Due to frequent knockbacks in the intermission phase, it is incredibly important that you position yourself in front of the boss and stay ahead of it to prevent being chain knocked back and unable to hit the boss for Crusader Strike.
- Divine Shield is extremely valuable on this encounter and you will want to use it well. It can be used to run through every mechanic as well as knocking away motes from the boss without taking any damage. If you find yourself in last phase with it off cooldown, use it and knockback as many motes as you possibly can.
- Shadowbreaker, Dawn of the Sun is the preferred legendary choice as the raid will be extremely spread, making it difficult to consistently hit 5 targets with Light of Dawn for the Holy Paladin 4-Piece tier bonus.
For more information, please refer to our Halondrus the Reclaimer guide.
Anduin Wrynn
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Anduin Wrynn: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Save your charges of Vanquisher's Hammer for the healing absorb from Befouled Barrier and for when you are healing adds in the Kingsmourne Hungers phase.
- Try to use Blessing of Sacrifice and Lay on Hands on your party members who get hit by Wicked Star. This silences them preventing them from being able to heal themselves or use life-saving abilities.
For more information, please refer to our Anduin Wrynn guide.
Lords of Dread
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Lords of Dread: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Beacon of Light can be placed on raid members with weaker defensives (disc/holy priests) to help them live. If they are not in need of extra healing, then using on tanks is also acceptable.
- You should aim to use Divine Shield during one or two swarms to reduce the total healing required by your raid group. One less person taking damage can make it noticeably easier to heal.
For more information, please refer to our Lords of Dread guide.
Rygelon
We advise you to use the following Legendary against Rygelon: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- Divine Shield should be used to immune the damage taken from Cosmic Ejection.
- On Mythic difficulty, you should attempt to align your casts of Vanquisher's Hammer with the healing absorb mechanic, Stellar Shroud. If you are using the Beacon of Virtue talent, you should also align this with the stellar shroud cast.
For more information, please refer to our Rygelon guide.
The Jailer
We advise you to use the following Legendary against The Jailer: Maraad's Dying Breath.
Recommended Covenant: Necrolord
Tips
- The Plague Deviser Marileth Soulbind is exceptionally useful on this fight as it will allow you to immune the many knockbacks in the fight when channeling Fleshcraft.
- Ideally you should save both Avenging Wrath and both charges of Vanquisher's Hammer for the healing absorb, Dominating Will, that occurs in phase 3.
For more information, please refer to our The Jailer guide.
