BiS Gear Guide for Holy Priest

Due to the wide variety of gear providing secondary stats that are all very close in value for us and augments such as sockets or tertiary stats, there is no certain Best in Slot list. This page aims to guide you toward the best possible items, particularly in trinket slots.

For regular item slots that are not used by tier or trinket/weapon effects, you will want to focus on item level while keeping the following in mind:

  • Socket — Around 9 item levels.
  • Leech — Around 12 item levels. **
  • Avoidance — Around 6 item levels.

** Note: The value of leech drops off the more you get. It is quite valuable up until you reach 2-3 items with it; then, the value can drop off quite significantly. Focus on prioritizing item level if you reach this much leech from your gear.

To learn more about stats and how they affect your gearing, check out the Holy Priest Stats page linked below.

Liberation of Undermine Raid Gear BiS List for Holy Priest

This list contains the Best in Slot Gear for Holy Priest in The War Within Season 2 from all sources, including Raiding, Mythic+, Delves, The Great Vault, and Crafted.

Note that this BiS List is for items from the Raid. We are separating the BiS lists by gear sources. This is what you send to your Raid Leader/Loot Council when they ask you what your BiS gear is from the Raid.

Note that there is no such thing as a singular, all-encompassing "BiS". The best items vary per character and situation, and there are many items that are essentially equivalent in terms of HPS, namely when we are just shuffling secondary stats around. We will list one "BiS" item per slot, sometimes two if we feel there is a significant difference, but ultimately, BiS lists are not very practically useful. Nonetheless, there is a huge demand for this, so here it is for your perusal.

There are two notable mentions of multiple options from the table below. The first is weapons, where multiple 1-handed available are almost identical in value. The second are the very rare items, which have alternatives listed due to how difficult it can be to obtain the very rare items.

Best Cyrce's Circlet Gems for Holy Priest

With the release of season 2, this ring should be worn until you either have a Heroic The Jastor Diamond Icon The Jastor Diamond, Heroic Crit-Heavy or Mastery-Heavy Miniature Roulette Wheel Icon Miniature Roulette Wheel, or a Mythic item level ring.

Cyrce's Circlet ring was introduced in Patch 11.0.7 and is acquired by completing several activities on Siren Isle. The ring has 3 sockets, which can fit a different kind of gem each. There are four different gems available for each of the three sockets, for a total of 12 gems, so there is quite a bit of choice on what to socket.

As for the state of the system on the release of Patch 11.1.0, Cyrce's Circlet will be replaced by a Mythic 670+ item-level ring.

The following gems are recommended when utilizing Cyrce's Circlet:

  • Stormbringer's Runed Citrine Icon Stormbringer's Runed Citrine
  • Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine Icon Fathomdweller's Runed Citrine
  • Windsinger's Runed Citrine Icon Windsinger's Runed Citrine

Some alternatives to the above gems are available. Roaring War-Queen's Citrine Icon Roaring War-Queen's Citrine can be run over Stormbringer's Runed Citrine Icon Stormbringer's Runed Citrine in a situation where you are willing to give up power of your own to give more power to your group. Just be aware that running more than one of these in a group can have lesser results.

For more information on how to get the ring, as well as acquiring all of the different gems that you can possibly socket into it, check out our Cyrce's Circlet guide below!

Raiding Trinket Tier List

Raiding Trinket Tier List for Holy Priest

This Trinket Tier List is based on the best attributes to improve your Raid performance, unless otherwise mentioned.

You should aim to pick up one of the S-tier or A-tier on-use trinkets when possible. You can macro this together with Apotheosis Icon Apotheosis using the macro below, so long as your trinket is in your top trinket slot. While multiple on-use trinkets are available, we do not suggest running two at once.

  • #showtooltip Apotheosis
  • /use 13
  • /cast Apotheosis
4.1.

S-Tier

4.1.

A-Tier

  • Carved Blazikon Wax Icon Carved Blazikon Wax (Darkflame Cleft) - Good alternative passive stat trinket.
  • Burin of the Candle King Icon Burin of the Candle King (Darkflame Cleft) - Mythic+ choice as a defensive or external.
4.1.

B-Tier

4.1.

C-Tier and below

Due to the large number of trinkets available, only those considered B-Tier or higher have been listed. If you don't see a trinket listed above, you can presume it is C-tier or lower.

You can view a complete list by importing your character into the QE Live tool and selecting Trinkets.

Best Crafted Items for Holy Priest

Our BiS crafts are pretty straightforward. We eventually want Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on the Vagabond's Torch Icon Vagabond's Torch off-hand and Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding on the Consecrated Cuffs Icon Consecrated Cuffs bracers.

5.1.

Best Embellishments and Crafting Order for Holy Priest

The crafting order is only complicated for your first few crafts, where the immediate power increase of a 2-hander can be a better choice for your initial 2 sparks. Below is the crafting advice if you have a raiding focus.

  1. Vagabond's Bounding Baton Icon Vagabond's Bounding Baton (Early craft, costs 2 Sparks) — This item is not our long-term BiS, but if you are wanting the strongest immediate power increase, then the sheer item level value of a weapon is going to exceed the value of the best embellishments. As for embellishment, you should apply Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension.
  2. (BiS, 1 Spark) — Consecrated Cuffs Icon Consecrated Cuffs — We choose bracers with Writhing Armor Banding Icon Writhing Armor Banding here because they have the lowest item level budget, meaning that the 3 iLvl cost of using crafted bracers over a pair of 639s will cost us less than for other slots. In the early short-term, this is actually a disadvantage, but it is the best choice in the long run when chasing a BiS setup.
  3. (BiS, 1 Spark) — Vagabond's Torch Icon Vagabond's Torch — Once you obtain a high item-level main-hand weapon, you should craft Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension Icon Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on and off-hand to go with it.
  4. Next, chase item level where needed, preferring Weapon > Helm/Chest/Legs (though these are likely occupied by tier) > Boots/Belt > Rings/Necks > Cloaks.
  5. At this point, you are mostly done crafting. You can spend future Sparks on off-spec items, alternative stat crafts for different situations, and so on.

If you are focused on Mythic+ content, you should look to craft Vagabond's Bounding Baton Icon Vagabond's Bounding Baton with your first 2 sparks as it provides the largest immediate power increase. For your embellishments, craft Binding of Binding Icon Binding of Binding alongside Dawnthread Lining Icon Dawnthread Lining on either Wrists, Waist or Cloak.

6.

Season 2 Tier Set for Holy Priest

The Tier Set is comprised of 5 items, all carrying the Confessor's Unshackable Virtue moniker. The tier bonus for Season 2 is primarily a passive buff that encourages regular usage of Holy Words, and utilising Apotheosis Icon Apotheosis well.

  • Confessor's Unshakable Halo Icon Confessor's Unshakable Halo
  • Confessor's Unshakable Radiance Icon Confessor's Unshakable Radiance
  • Confessor's Unshakable Vestment Icon Confessor's Unshakable Vestment
  • Confessor's Unshakable Mitts Icon Confessor's Unshakable Mitts
  • Confessor's Unshakable Leggings Icon Confessor's Unshakable Leggings
  • 2-set: Priest Holy 11.1 Class Set 2pc Icon Priest Holy 11.1 Class Set 2pc - Your healing spells have a chance to apply Insurance! Icon Insurance! to their targets that heals them over 15 sec. Insurance! Icon Insurance! is consumed if an ally drops below 40% health to heal them.
  • 4-set: Priest Holy 11.1 Class Set 4pc Icon Priest Holy 11.1 Class Set 4pc - Holy Word: Serenity Icon Holy Word: Serenity and Holy Word: Sanctify Icon Holy Word: Sanctify apply Insurance! Icon Insurance! for 10 sec to one target while Apotheosis Icon Apotheosis is active. Your healing is increased by 1% for each Insurance! Icon Insurance! active on allies.

While the set bonus doesn't change how we play, it emphasises playing well. The more you are in Apotheosis Icon Apotheosis and the more Holy Words you cast during Apotheosis, the more benefit you will get from Tier.

Best Gear Crest Upgrades for Holy Priest

You will be able to upgrade your items via Crests such as Gilded Undermine Crest Icon Gilded Undermine Crest. Once you have upgraded a slot to a certain item level, upgrading other items of that slot to that item level is free.

When you upgrade with Crests, you should think of it as upgrading slots and not items.

Additionally, since Crests are a limited resource, you will want to obtain the highest item-level possible before upgrading a given slot, as this means you will spend fewer Crests on that slot in total. If you are at all capable of doing a +9 Dungeon, for example, it would be a VERY bad idea to upgrade an item from a +8 Dungeon, as those are wasted Crests you may not get back for a very long time.

We see a ton of players, even at a high level, mess up their upgrade priorities, and upgrading prematurely. Getting this right will put you far ahead of most players.

Below is the slot priority you should upgrade your items in. If you ever want to deviate from this, you should have a very good reason.

  1. Weapons
  2. Trinkets
  3. Helm/Chest/Legs
  4. Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots
  5. Rings and Necks
  6. Cloaks and Bracers

Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have more Item Level scaling than their slot would imply.

8.

"Simming" Yourself as a Holy Priest

While your playstyle contributes the most to your performance, and there is no way to "sim" healing, there are still tools available to help make informed decisions about which items to wear. Simply wearing your best item-level items gets you most of the way there, but to assist with evaluating similar item-level items or items with additional effects, you can load your character into QE Live to view some comparisons of your top gear.
