BiS Gear Guide for Holy Priest
Due to the wide variety of gear providing secondary stats that are all very close in value for us and augments such as sockets or tertiary stats, there is no certain Best in Slot list. This page aims to guide you toward the best possible items, particularly in trinket slots.
For regular item slots that are not used by tier or trinket/weapon effects, you will want to focus on item level while keeping the following in mind:
- Socket — Around 10 item levels.
- Leech — Around 15 item levels. **
- Avoidance — Around 5 item levels.
** Note: The value of leech drops off the more you get. It is quite valuable up until you reach 3-4 items with it; then, the value can drop off quite significantly. Focus on prioritizing item level if you reach this much leech from your gear.

Nerub-ar Palace Raid Gear BiS List for Holy Priest
This list contains the Best in Slot Gear for Holy Priest in The War Within Season 1 from all sources, including Raiding, Mythic+, Delves, The Great Vault, and Crafted.
Note that this BiS List is for items from the Raid. We are separating the BiS lists by gear sources. This is what you send to your Raid Leader/Loot Council when they ask you what your BiS gear is from the Raid.
Note that there is no such thing as a singular, all-encompassing "BiS". The best items vary per character and situation, and there are many items that are essentially equivalent in terms of HPS, namely when we are just shuffling secondary stats around. We will list one "BiS" item per slot, sometimes two if we feel there is a significant difference, but ultimately, BiS lists are not very practically useful. Nonetheless, there is a huge demand for this, so here it is for your perusal.
There are two notable mentions of multiple options from the table below. The first is weapons, where multiple 1-handed available are almost identical in value. The second are the very rare items, which have alternatives listed due to how difficult it can be to obtain the very rare items.

Best Trinkets for Holy Priest in The War Within Season 1
Raiding Trinket Tier List for Holy Priest
This Trinket Tier List is AoE healing biased, as this tends to be the most important aspect of Raiding.
S-Tier
- Unbound Changeling (Mists of Tirna Scithe).
- Creeping Coagulum (The Bloodbound Horror in Nerub-ar Palace).
- Ovi'nax's Mercurial Egg (Broodtwister Ovi'nax in Nerub-ar Palace).
- Empowering Crystal of Anub'ikkaj (The Dawnbreaker).
A-Tier
- Gale of Shadows (Grim Batol).
- Scrapsinger's Symphony (The Stonevault).
- Ara-Kara Sacbrood (Ara-Kara, City of Echoes).
B-Tier
- Carved Blazikon Wax (Darkflame Cleft).
- Mereldar's Toll (The Dawnbreaker).
- Gruesome Syringe (Nerub-ar Palace).
C-Tier and below
Due to the large number of trinkets available, only those considered B-Tier or higher have been listed. If you don't see a trinket listed above, you can presume it is C-tier or lower.
You can view a complete list by importing your character into the QE Live tool and selecting Trinkets.
Best Crafted Items for Holy Priest
Our BiS crafts are pretty straightforward. We eventually want Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on the Vagabond's Torch off-hand and Writhing Armor Banding on the Consecrated Cuffs bracers.
Best Embellishments and Crafting Order for Holy Priest
Note that Embellishments have yet to go undergo significant tuning and that this recommendation is very preliminary. We do not recommend that you craft ANYTHING until the last possible moment, which is generally right before you head into raid progression or serious Mythic+ pushing. The longer you can wait with crafting, the better information you and this guide will have on the best crafts. Crafting early and then having the recommendation change because of tuning by Blizzard really sucks!
The crafting order is only complicated for your first few crafts, where the immediate power increase of a 2-hander can be a better choice for your initial 2 sparks.
- Vagabond's Bounding Baton (Early season, costs 2 Sparks) — This item is not our long-term BiS, but if you are coming fresh into the season with Mythic0 606 iLvl gear or below, then the sheer item level value of a weapon is going to exceed the value of the best embellishments. That said if you wait until your first Great Vault and it has a weapon, then you may wish to craft something else instead. As for embellishment, you should apply Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension.
- (BiS, 1 Spark) — Consecrated Cuffs — We choose bracers with Writhing Armor Banding here because they have the lowest item level budget, meaning that the 3 iLvl cost of using crafted bracers over a pair of 639s will cost us less than for other slots. In the early short-term, this is actually a disadvantage, but it is the best choice in the long run when chasing a BiS setup.
- (BiS, 1 Spark) — Vagabond's Torch — Once you obtain a high item-level main-hand weapon, you should craft Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on and off-hand to go with it.
- Next, chase item level where needed, preferring Weapon > Helm/Chest/Legs (though these are likely occupied by tier) > Boots/Belt > Rings/Necks > Cloaks.
- At this point, you are mostly done crafting. You can spend future Sparks on off-spec items, alternative stat crafts for different situations, and so on.
Season 1 Tier Set for Holy Priest
The Tier Set is comprised of 5 items, all carrying the Shards of Living Luster moniker. The tier bonus for Season 1 is primarily a passive bonus to both the cooldown reduction on our Holy Words and an increase to the healing done by Flash Heal, Heal, and Prayer of Healing.
- Living Luster's Touch
- Living Luster's Semblance
- Living Luster's Trousers
- Living Luster's Raiment
- Living Luster's Dominion
- 2-set: Priest Holy Season 1 2pc - Serendipity is 10% more effective.
- 4-set: Priest Holy Season 1 4pc - Flash Heal, Heal and Prayer of Healing have a 50% chance to cast again at 35% effectiveness.
Neither of the set bonuses changes how we play.
Best Gear Crest Upgrades for Holy Priest
You will be able to upgrade your items via Crests such as Gilded Harbinger Crest. Once you have upgraded a slot to a certain item level, upgrading other items of that slot to that item level is free.
When you upgrade with Crests, you should think of it as upgrading slots and not items.
Additionally, since Crests are a limited resource, you will want to obtain the highest item-level possible before upgrading a given slot, as this means you will spend fewer Crests on that slot in total. If you are at all capable of doing a +9 Dungeon, for example, it would be a VERY bad idea to upgrade an item from a +8 Dungeon, as those are wasted Crests you may not get back for a very long time.
We see a ton of players, even at a high level, mess up their upgrade priorities, and upgrading prematurely. Getting this right will put you far ahead of most players.
Below is the slot priority you should upgrade your items in. If you ever want to deviate from this, you should have a very good reason.
- Weapons
- Trinkets
- Helm/Chest/Legs
- Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots
- Rings and Necks
- Cloaks and Bracers
Note that exceptions are possible, such as special items that have more Item Level scaling than their slot would imply.
"Simming" Yourself as a Holy Priest
While your playstyle contributes the most to your performance, and there is no way to "sim" healing, there are still tools available to help make informed decisions about which items to wear. Simply wearing your best item-level items gets you most of the way there, but to assist with evaluating similar item-level items or items with additional effects, you can load your character into QE Live to view some comparisons of your top gear.
