1.1.2.

Specific Macros for Holy Priests

For the Holy Priest Macros we got together with Elvenbane, moderator for Warcraft Priests and author of their popular Useful Macro Templates guide.

We highly suggest that all of your healing spells, as well as other utility spells that can be cast on raid members (such as Guardian Spirit Icon Guardian Spirit and Purify Icon Purify), be easily accessible. This can be done either through using macros or by addons such as Clique, Vuhdu or Healbot. This will allow you to much more easily cast them on raid members as swiftly as possible.

1.2.1.

Basic Healing Macro

This macro is the basis of all of your healing and buff spell macros. You simply replace SPELL with the spell you want that should be cast on a friendly unit including healing spells and dispels. It works as follows.

  • Holding Alt: Self Cast.
  • Mouseover Friend: Cast on Mouseover.
  • Target Friend: Cast on Target.
  • Target Enemy Targeting Friend: Cast on Enemy's Target.
  • Default casting Behaviour: Casts as if there was no macro, and generates the tooltip.
  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [mod:alt,@player] [@mouseover,help,nodead] [help] [@targettarget,help,nodead] [] SPELL
1.2.2.

Self-Casting Angelic Feather Macro

This is a really handy macro that casts Angelic Feather Icon Angelic Feather under the player using the new @player shorthand.

  • /cast [@player] Angelic Feather
  • /stopspelltarget
1.2.3.

Basic Damage Macro

This is a basic mouseover macro for offensive spells. You simply replace SPELL with the spell you want to cast, it works like this:

  • Mouseover Enemy: Cast on Mouseover.
  • Default casting Behavior: Casts as if there was no macro, and generates the tooltip.
  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [@mouseover,harm,nodead] [] SPELL
1.2.4.

Holy Word: Sanctify Under Cursor

This macro allows you to cast Holy Word: Sanctify Icon Holy Word: Sanctify under your cursor immediately, saving you another mouse click. Keep in mind that it can however be difficult to accurately judge where Sanctify will land without the targeting reticle.

  • /cast [@cursor] Holy Word: Sanctify
  • /stopspelltarget
1.2.5.

Cancelling Spirit of Redemption

Sometimes you will want to cancel Spirit of Redemption Icon Spirit of Redemption early, to easily do this, use the macro below:

  • /cancelform Spirit of Redemption
1.2.6.

Talent Swapping Halo and Divine Star Macro

This macro changes to either Halo Icon Halo or Divine Star Icon Divine Star depending on which one you are talented into.

  • #showtooltip
  • /cast [known: 110744] Divine Star; [known: 120517] Halo;
1.2.7.

Shackle Undead Focus Macro

This macro allows you to not only cast Shackle Undead Icon Shackle Undead on your target but also set it as a focus so you can keep an eye on the shackle and recast it if needed.

  • Holding Shift: Clear focus.
  • Holding Alt: Set focus and cast Shackle Undead Icon Shackle Undead on focus.
  • Default casting Behavior: Casts as if there was no macro, and generates the tooltip.
  • #showtooltip
  • /focus [mod:alt,@focus,dead] [mod:alt,@focus,noexists]
  • /clearfocus [@focus,dead] [mod:alt,@focus,noexists] [mod:shift]
  • /cast [mod:alt,@focus,exists] [] Shackle Undead

Addons

2.1.

Generic Addons for Priests

2.1.1.

Weak Auras

WeakAuras is an extremely useful addon that allows you to have visual effects on your screen, helping you track your buffs, debuffs and cooldowns. It is highly customisable and it can make it much, much easier to keep track of your procs and play your spec more proficiently. It can also be used for a variety of other functions.

Below are some good Weakaura packages which cover most of what you will need as a Holy priest:

2.1.2.

Clique

Clique is a very popular and robust addon that gives people the ability to heal by clicking raid frames of any kind (a good alternative to mouseover macros). It is compatible with most of the major unit frame set-ups (such as the default UI or ElvUI).

2.1.3.

Boss Mods: Deadly Boss Mods or Bigwigs

Boss mods are addons that warn you about boss abilities and give you live advice on how to handle some mechanics. We strongly recommend you to get one such addon. At Icy Veins, we mostly use Deadly Boss Mods, the most popular boss mod. A good alternative is Big Wigs.

2.1.4.

Method Raid Tools

Method Raid Tools is a useful addon that allows you to track the cooldowns of other raid members, as well as providing you with a wealth of other useful raid information.

2.1.5.

Parrot or Mik's Scrolling Battle Text

Parrot and Mik's Scrolling Battle Text are highly customisable addons for displaying floating battle text while in combat (incoming heals, damage of your spells, etc.). They both work very well by default.

2.1.6.

Details!

"Details!" Damage Meter is a real-time DPS/HPS meter with a lot of additional functionality such as being able to see cooldowns, buffs, debuffs, damage done to specific targets, and statistical analysis. In our opinion, it is superior to Skada in terms of functionality, although it is slightly more complicated to configure. We recommend Details! as your default damage meter, but if you prefer something easier, then Skada is still a good option.

2.2.

Specific Addons for Holy Priests

Currently, we do not believe that you need any additional addons to play your specialisation to its full potential.
