Mission Table Guide in Battle for Azeroth (BfA 8.2)
Greetings! Welcome to the Battle for Azeroth Mission Table Guide where we will cover what, where, and why the mission table is so important to your character's development early in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. This guide will go over how to get the most use from your mission table, how to unlock the champions and troops needed to complete missions, and help you select the best mission table perks.
Foreword
The mission table is paramount in your character's power progression and using the table to complete missions and collect rewards allows you to earn rewards that will boost your reputation levels faster, collect profession materials with certain pieces of follower champion equipment, and enable you to unlock perks that will enhance your playing experience within Kul Tiras and Zandalar. You can find more information about Champions and Troops in our Mission Table Champions Guide. Perks and enhancements are covered in our Mission Table Advancements Guide.
War Resources are Battle for Azeroth's table mission resource which are similar to Garrison Resources in Warlords of Draenor and Class Hall Order Resources used in Legion. Gathering these is extremely important as they are used for missions, recruiting troops, and advancing your mission table to unlock perks. Gathering these can be done through numerous sources including found in treasure chests, rare enemies, and can be a reward for some quests including world quests. It is strongly encouraged to open every treasure chest found, kill every rare enemy you encounter, and keep an eye out for world quests that reward War Resources.
Mission Table Progression
After completing your introductory series of quests for your faction War Campaign, you will be prompted with your first quest to unlock your mission table called The War Campaign (Alliance) / The War Campaign (Horde). This quest will take you to a member of your faction who will then give you the quest The War Cache (Alliance) / The War Cache (Horde), which will call for you to acquire 100 War Resources. Once you acquire your 100 War Resources, you will want to return to the quest giver which will unlock your mission table.
- For Alliance, return to Halford Wyrmbane in Tiragarde Sound who is found at (74, 26).
- For Horde, return to Nathanos Blightcaller in Zuldazar who is found at (58, 63).
After a short walkthrough by a member of your faction, you will be prompted to complete your first mission table quest called War of Shadows (Alliance) / War of Shadows (Horde). This mission will take two hours to complete, so this will progress while you head back out to quest and level up. Before you leave, max out the recruitment of as many troops as possible. They will supplement your champions' efforts on future missions.
Mission Table at Level 112
After achieving level 112, or preferably finishing your first quest zone, you should head back to your mission table. Your faction champion will have a quest to choose one of three hostile territories for you to set out and establish a foothold while aiding a future mission table champion.
- For the Alliance, select either Zuldazar for Kelsey Steelspark, Vol'dun for Magister Umbric, or Nazmir for John J. Keeshan.
- For the Horde, select either Tiragarde Sound for Shadow Hunter Ty'jin, Drustvar for Hobart Grapplehammer, or Stormsong Valley for Rexxar.
The order is largely inconsequential as you will be acquiring the rest of your champions rather quickly. Each zone has just a few short quests to complete. Once you have completed one zone, come back to your mission table, complete the recruitment of as many troops as you can, and send out more missions before heading back out to level up some more.
Mission Table at Level 114
After achieving Level 114, you can return to your mission table and faction leader for a quest to complete a second foothold mission in one of the two remaining enemy zones. Complete this for your third mission table champion.
You will also have the ability to research the first tier of your mission table advancement which will improve your experience within Kul Tiras and Zandalar. Your first tier will have the choice of Seafarer's Hearth or Swift Landing (Alliance) / Swift Landing (Horde) for only 15 War Resources.
- Seafarer's Hearth will reduce the cooldown of your Hearthstone by 50% when used in Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
- Swift Landing (Alliance) / Swift Landing (Horde) will grant you a 20% mounted movement speed for five minutes once you have landed from a flight path.
We recommend taking Swift Landing, as its usefulness while leveling will likely outperform the increased availability of your Hearthstone. This research will take four hours, so starting it as soon as possible will allow you to advance the other tiers as fast as possible.
Mission Table at Level 116
At Level 116, return to your mission table and faction leader for a quest called Island Expedition (Alliance) / Island Expedition (Horde), which will introduce you to the Island Expeditions feature in Battle for Azeroth. Completing this will grant you access to all other island expeditions, and completing these will be a part of your Battle for Azeroth Pathfinder, Part One achievement that will eventually unlock flying.
Mission Table at Level 118
After achieving Level 118, your faction champion will have the third and final quest to establish a foothold in enemy territory. Complete this for your fourth and final mission table champion. Upon completion of your third enemy zone, you will unlock the reputation vendor for the Champions of Azeroth reputation who is Magni Bronzebeard in Silithus. His item list includes the following.
Item | Type | Reputation |
---|---|---|
Contract: Champions of Azeroth | Consumable | Friendly |
Drape of the Azerothian Champion | Cloak | Honored |
Drop of Azerite | Companion Pet | Revered |
Shard of Azerite | Companion Pet | Revered |
Azerothian Champion's Crown | Cloth Helm | Exalted |
Vest of the Azerothian Champion | Leather Chest | Exalted |
Azerothian Champion's Spaulders | Mail Shoulders | Exalted |
Helm of the Azerothian Champion | Plate Helm | Exalted |
Champions of Azeroth Tabard | Tabard | Exalted |
Level 118 will also grant you access to the second tier of mission table progression perks. For the cost of 100 War Resources, you will be able to select either Upgraded Troop Barracks which grants you two additional troop capacity, or you may select Troop Portal Network which makes troop recruitment instantaneous instead of thirty minutes per troop. We recommend Upgraded Troop Barracks as this will enable you to complete more missions simultaneously with the increased counter capabilities of more troops. Most missions take long enough that instantaneous recruitment will not be useful as the thirty minute recruitment time can process while other missions progress.
After Level 118, you will want to continue questing and returning to your mission table as missions complete to boost your mission table champion's experience levels as well as acquiring the rewards from the missions completed. For champion and troop information, please see our guide that covers each Champion's strengths, what they counter, and how to set each one up to maximize success.
Level 120 Mission Table Notes
At Level 120, your mission table is important to unlocking new flight paths on the enemy island through the use of Scouting Reports which can be purchased from the 7th Legion and Honorbound quartermasters. Two are available at Honored with more available at revered. The mission table can also them randomly prompt missions to upgrade those outposts. It is recommended to unlock all of these!
PLEASE NOTE: The Scouting Report missions only last for SIX HOURS. If you purchase them all and only complete two or three, you will have to re-purchase the ones you did not complete. Activate one mission at a time and complete it as the purchase cost for each Scouting Report is 100 War Resources!
