Mistress Sassz'ine Abilities

General Information

On this page, we list all the abilities from the Mistress Sassz'ine encounter in Tomb of Sargeras. The idea is to give you a solid understanding of the encounter before you read the strategy.

Mistress Sassz'ine is a 3-phase encounter that focuses primarily on environmental awareness and mechanics.

1.

All Phases

These abilities are used throughout the fight, regardless of phase.

1.1.

Hydra Shot

Hydra Shot Icon Hydra Shot marks players with a debuff. After 6 seconds of charging up, Hydra Shot inflicts heavy Physical damage, split between all players in the path. Each player hit receives a stack of Hydra Acid Icon Hydra Acid. Hydra Acid deals moderate Nature damage every second for 6 seconds, and stuns targets upon reaching 2+ stacks. The target cannot avoid the damage unless a Physical immunity is used.

1.2.

Burden of Pain

Burden of Pain Icon Burden of Pain curses a target, inflicting heavy Shadow damage every second for 20 seconds. Any Physical damage taken while the curse is active is shared between all players in the raid.

1.3.

From the Abyss

From the Abyss Icon From the Abyss summons 3 Abyss Stalkers to engage the raid in battle. Abyss Stalkers' melee attacks inflict Shadow damage. They will periodically cast Dark Depths Icon Dark Depths, striking a random player with Jaws from the Deep Icon Jaws from the Deep, inflicting light Shadow damage instantly and moderate Shadow damage every second for 4 seconds. When slain, the Abyss Stalkers release a cloud of Concealing Murk Icon Concealing Murk for 20 seconds. Anyone caught within the cloud receives moderate Shadow damage every 2 seconds and has their hit chance reduced by 75% until they exit the cloud.

Phase One: Ten Thousand Fangs

2.1.

Slicing Tornado

Slicing Tornado Icon Slicing Tornados sweep across the arena in a line, dealing moderate Physical damage to anyone they come into contact with every second for 20 seconds. If a Slicing Tornado comes in contact with a cloud of Concealing Murk Icon Concealing Murk, the tornado disappears and the size of the cloud is reduced.

2.2.

Consuming Hunger

Mistress Sassz'ine summons several Razorjaw Waverunner Murlocs, who attach themselves to random players and inflict moderate Physical damage every 2 seconds. Waverunner Murlocs struck by Thundering Shock Icon Thundering Shock detach themselves from players, and make them vulnerable to attack. Waverunners strike players periodically with Water Blast Icon Water Blast, dealing moderate Frost damage instantly.

2.3.

Thundering Shock

Jellyfish rise up from the watery depths, dealing a Thundering Shock Icon Thundering Shock to anyone caught within 8 yards. The shock deals heavy Nature damage to players hit and stuns them for 4 seconds. If a Razorjaw Waverunner is attached to you and you are hit by a Thundering Shock Icon Thundering Shock, it instead stuns the Waverunner and removes it from your back, making it vulnerable to attack. The Thundering Shocks can be avoided and are indicated by circles on the floor.

Phase Two: Terrors of the Deep

Phase Two begins when Mistress Sassz'ine reaches 70% health.

3.1.

Beckon Sarukel

Mistress Sassz'ine summons Sarukel, the Unending Hunger. Sarukel casts Devouring Maw Icon Devouring Maw, sucking in the raid and dealing moderate Frost damage every second. Any raid member caught within 15 yards of Sarukel is devoured by Devour Whole Icon Devour Whole, and killed instantaneously. After swallowing 3 Befouling Ink Icon Befouling Ink (explained below) clouds, Sarukel temporarily departs and ends his channel.

3.2.

Summon Ossunet

Mistress Sassz'ine summons Ossunet, the Darkness, to obstruct her enemies' vision. Ossunet defiles the arena with Befouling Ink Icon Befouling Ink, spraying ink clouds throughout the arena which inflict moderate Shadow damage (every 2 seconds) to anyone caught within them. Movement speed is also reduced by 25% for anyone within the cloud. Befouling Ink can be carried to Sarukel by players. Running through Befouling Ink Icon Befouling Ink while Sarukel is active will cause it to be picked up, and it will be removed when coming within close range of Sarukel's maw.

3.3.

Call Vellius

Mistress Sassz'ine summons Vellius, the Drowning Tide. Vellius charges through the arena, inflicting heavy Frost damage to anyone in his path and knocks them back. This ability is very telegraphed and can be avoided.

4.

Phase Three: Vast Oceans of Wrath

Phase Three begins when Mistress Sassz'ine reaches 40% health.

4.1.

Summon Ossunet

Mistress Sassz'ine summons Ossunet, the Darkness, who performs the same abilities as in Phase Two.

4.2.

Call Vellius

Mistress Sassz'ine summons Vellius, the Drowning Tide, who performs the same abilities as in Phase Two.

4.3.

Consuming Hunger

Mistress Sassz'ine summons several Razorjaw Waverunners, who perform identical abilities as in Phase One.

4.4.

Slicing Tornado

Slicing Tornado Icon Slicing Tornados are brought forth and act identically to the first phase.
