The new zone we are going to in patch 11.0.7 seems to be an old one, but it holds a very cool piece of continuity!
The Siren Isle didn’t quite make it into Battle for Azeroth back during patch 8.2. However, it has now found a new home in the War Within! MrGM dug up the old map file and some screenshots
A Great Piece of Off-Screen Continuity
The really interesting thing is that there’s a great bit of continuity here. This isn’t just a copy-paste re-do of old content, as Blizzard have appropriately aged the zone as well. In the official description the isle is said to have been an Azerite mining site, but then something happened and everyone disappeared. This actually lines up perfectly with what the original map was in BfA, with some great details on the new map showing its age since then! Dataminer and MMOChampion contributor Marlamin explains:
This is a really awesome piece of continuity, as it implies that even zones we’ve never seen age and change. While it may have been cut content for BfA, Blizzard continued the zone’s story up until now, and it’s slotted in to what’s happening in the War Within! While some may complain about re-used content, we find this a really great piece world-building. What else is happening in zones we’ve never seen before?!
