We have a pretty interesting story on our hands. While we read constant complaints about not enough content in patches and there being “nothing to do” in the game, WoW has always had many, many weird side avenues for players to explore. One such player decided to gather up as many legendary inventory items as they can on one character, just to see how many there are!
Lots of Orange
While CptJumbo classifies their story as “mildly interesting”, we think it’s actually really great. They’ve collected 88 legendary items on a Warrior. Now, as you can see below, that’s not limited to just legendary gear. Quest items, materials for creating legendaries, basically anything orange-colored fits the bill! This makes it a particularly interesting experiment, as there are many items in the game that fit the bill. Obviously, there can’t be more than one copy of the same legendary, which is why the title below is incorrect, as CptJumbo later realized there were two copies of a ring in here, so it’s 88 since the last update.
Do you recognize any of the quest items?
The Devil’s in the Details
You might be spotting some obvious ones missing in the image above, like for example Fyr’alath. Ah, but that’s no coincidence! The quest to make the legendary axe actually gives you three legendary materials, and as most mathletes know, three is more than one! Now, of course, some sneaky redditors already suggested a workaround by deleting the current quest items, creating Fyr’alath by completing the quests again, and then item restoring the deleted materials. But it seems this is a clean collection so far!
Plenty More to Go
There’s plenty more out there to collect. One of the big ones was the Sanctum of Domination bow from Sylvanas. CptJumbo wasn’t sure if it dropped for Warriors, so that’s probably next on the list. There’s also the materials for some of the non-quest legendaries that have already been crafted, like Thunderfury and Sulfuras. Many more suggestions came in the thread as well, from Aman’Thul’s Vision in Antorus, to the Wrathion cloaks in Mists of Pandaria, and even legendary follower equipment!
There was also a question on whether artifacts would count, but the answer was swift and decisive!
There’s many more legendary slots out there, that’s for sure! And so the road is a long one yet, but it’s really cool to see players find goals for themselves and commit. There’s plenty of ways to enjoy WoW, and while this one isn’t necessarily for everyone, we’re always thrilled to share these individual player stories!
What was the weirdest thing you just randomly decided to go and do in WoW that wasn’t a “normal” game activity?
