A Billion?! Total Warcraft Franchise Player Counts and Days Played in WoW Official Statistics

Blizzard got out the big numbers for yesterday’s Warcraft Direct stream! We had many reveals, from retail to Classic, Hearthstone and Rumble, but we also got some impressive lifetime stats throughout the presentation.

All-Time Warcraft Franchise Players

WoW itself is already pretty huge in terms of player number throughout the years. We had over 13 million active players back in Wrath of the Lich King, and over 100 million accounts created back in 2014. And while Blizzard haven’t been disclosing player numbers for a while now, we were pretty sure the numbers went quite a bit higher than that. We even got a bit of a rumor that player numbers were near an all-time high recently!

We did get a pretty big number during the Warcraft Direct, but it wasn’t solely WoW-related. 254 million players have played games in the Warcraft franchise! This includes the three originals, WoW, Hearthstone and, Warcraft Rumble.

But that’s not all since we also got a new number on the time players spent in World of Warcraft in particular. And it’s a very nice round number too!

To bring that down to more manageable numbers, that’s 2,739,726 years. Ok, that’s not more manageable at all. So it’s 27,397 centuries or 2,740 millennia. That’s definitely a civilization’s worth! Although many don’t judge the culture of said civilization by Mythic+ pugs.

Be honest now, how many millennia have you contributed?
