Another Breaks Free of Mechagon: A Player’s Long 3,300 Kill Journey for the Rustfeather’s Mount

Staff's Avatar by Staff

A player has finally completed everything in Mechagon, including obtaining the Rusted Keys to the Junkheap Drifter iconRusted Keys to the Junkheap Drifter, the very last thing they needed from the zone – a feat that took them years, countless characters, and, most obviously, a lot of time.

Indig3o has finally freed themselves of Mechagon, sharing how it took them tons of alts to get it done. They clarified that they didn’t actively grind every day but instead used an AFK method, with RareScanner alerting them while working. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the drop systems like the ones in Mechagon, stating that they hurt the game – but at least, they are finally free!

How Rare Is It?

You can obtain the Rusted Keys to the Junkheap Drifter with a slim 0.5% drop chance from Rustfeather. While the drop rate isn’t impossible, the fact that Rustfeather spawns only every 20-60 minutes makes it a brutal farm – for some, an impossible mission. However, consistency does pay off in the end.

What r/WoW Has to Say

Some users doubted the accuracy of the 3300+ kill claim, arguing that probability-wise, it is extremely unlikely to go that long without a drop.

Others defended it, explaining that probability is not cumulative – each attempt has the same odds, regardless of previous failures.

Additionally, one user warned that part of Mechagon will be back in Mythic+ next season, joking that Indig3o might not be as “free” as they think.
