Dragonflight Vs. War Within Mythic+ Runs Per Week and Player Population Comparison Charts Since Legion!

Staff's Avatar by Staff

It’s time for some more Mythic+ numbers! Zmiecer is back with another look at the number of full group runs, both timed and untimed, from Raider.IO. We have the usual weekly comparison to Season 4 of Dragonflight, but we’re also diving into a full look at all of Dragonflight’s seasons compared to S1 of War Within, and a look at the number of unique characters in ALL seasons since Legion!

The Basics

We have a few charts to take a look at, so let’s start with the simplest one. Here are All of Dragonflight’s and the War Within’s Mythic+ runs for each of their seasons in a single chart. As you can see TWW’s numbers dropped another 300,000 or so this past week, putting it right between DF S1 and DF S4 numbers for week 3. We did just see a big change in Gilded Crest rewards go live today, so it’s going to be interesting to see whether that changes the downward trend for TWW S1.

Normalized Chart

This one is not looking at the specific number of runs, but rather comparing the increase or decrease each subsequent season had after the first. As we can see, Dragonflight’s inaugural season saw a much steeper drop in weeks 2 and 3, while DF S4 was the only one to gain runs after its first week. The War Within S1 has lost around 25%

Number of Unique Characters in Legion, BfA, SL, DF, TWW

We have some different numbers here, as we’re taking a look at the number of unique characters that participated in Mythic+ runs. Not only that, but Raider.IO has the data for many more expansions for this statistic, so we can check everything since Mythic+ opened!

This number goes up each week of a season, as players play more and more alts, so The War Within’s numbers are not really comparable yet, but it’s already doing pretty well. With only 3 weeks behind it, TWW is already above all other Mythic+ seasons except for the final two of Dragonflight. We can also see that DF Season 3 was clearly the most played, both in terms of unique characters and total runs.

That’s some really cool work by Zmiecer, so head on over to the most recent reddit post and share your thanks if you found the above useful! And here’s the post itself, where we can more clearly see this past week’s Season 1 runs as well.
