Now that patch 11.1 has been announced and the dust has settled a bit, some rumors and wishes about the potential appearance of the Sethrak are slithering in. Appropriately named SnekofVoldun has made a handy “infographic”.

The Most Wanted Allied race?

This immediately brought back calls, hopes, and wishes for the Sethrak as an Allied race. They have different interactions with the Alliance and Horde during the Battle for Azeroth war campaign in Vol’dun, but didn’t choose a side (yet). Generally the thought is that we haven’t gotten them yet due to the difficulties of armor customizations for the snakes. But that was thoroughly bashed by the Dracthyr, with their draconic forms and sparse armor pieces. And so the excuses are running dry and players want the race more and more!

There are also some more snarky comments about Blizzard still not them making them an Allied race option.

Snakes + Underground = Hard Sell

On the other hand, there’s some doubts about them appearing underground. You know, considering they’re snakes, and cold blooded. But, the Temple of Sethraliss dungeon located in northern Vol’dun does show they’ve made a large chunk of their empire underground.

And here’s an entertaining, funny, and downright thorough lore deep dive into the Temple of Sethraliss dungeon. All the finer points of Sethrak life and culture get discussed, including the dungeon skyboxes that show vast portions of their empire, the reasons why they would possibly join the Alliance, and the War Within fight.

One Sethrak, Kasthrik, can already be found in the War Within, in the Fungal Folly delve. She shares some information about her joining the Dragonscale Expedition, and also visiting Orgrimmar. If she’s a vanguard, and if the future sneaks in some snakes to resolve some unanswered Battle for Azeroth questions, remains to be seen.

Old Desires

The want/need for the snek boys has been around since players first laid eyes on them, and the amount of posts that constantly pop up over the years has been unending. Here are just a few:
