Players are frustrated with the changes introduced via Patch 10.1.7 hotfixes that cause rare mobs in Dragonflight zones to despawn if not engaged within a certain time. This, combined with their long spawn timers, makes farming unbearable.

Why This Change is Causing Problems
The 10.1.7 hotfix made rare mobs in Dragonflight zones despawn if not engaged within 15 minutes. That, combined with their multi-hour respawn timers, makes farming mounts, toys, pets, transmog, and achievements from these rares extremely tedious—especially now that Dragonflight content is becoming legacy!
AedionMorris made it clear that this is a bad decision by Blizzard. Not only do players have a limited window to engage rares, but about 80% of the rares are also on a set 15-minute rotation that takes over 12 hours to fully cycle through. Changes need to be made to Dragonflight now that it’s legacy content.
There are tons of players frustrated over this decision, but will there be any changes? Considering Blizzard is currently focused on The War Within, legacy content is suffering.
Community Suggests Fixes
One player trying to farm collectibles and achievements from past expansions almost always feels like they’re wasting their time.
Another player mentions a different path to fixing this. Maybe the problem isn’t just the rare despawn timer—perhaps the mount patterns should simply be added to a vendor. Or just give those long-awaited rares a 100% drop rate for their mounts.
The vast majority agrees the rare despawning mechanic is a step back. It won’t revive dead zones, if anything, it makes players even less likely to visit them.
