We got a lot of information on patch 11.1: Undermined during the Warcraft Direct stream. We also got a look at the roadmap for 2025. And in it there was a very interesting tidbit about patch 11.1.5!
The Visions Return
Marked in the roadmap under the 11.1.5: Nightfall patch, we see a revamp of the old Battle for Azeroth 8.3 feature, Horrific Visions. This was actually a pretty popular patch. It brought some big power gains to players in the form of Corrupted gear. Said gear made for some extremely powerful and broken builds, which worked out fine at the end of an expansion, but we’re pretty sure that will be tempered considering it’s only 11.1.5. We also may not get the gear aspect of the feature at all and only focus on the Delve-like Visions themselves, especially since the gear wasn’t exclusively tied to the Visions. Not much else is known aside from the fact that we’re revisiting them.
What Are Horrific Visions?
Horrific Visions were a Delve-precursor, basically. Arriving in Battle for Azeroth patch 8.3, they were instanced scenarios. They took place in alternate future versions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Presenting potential futures where N’Zoth had won, players had to face corrupted versions of faction leaders and complete various events across the cities. They also had a separate progression talent tree system called the Titanic Research Archive. The main timer of the activity is your sanity. It drains faster depending on the zone of the Vision you’re in, whether you get hit by certain abilities etc. You can enhance it via the talent tree and the legendary cloak offered more and more resistances as well.
There were also madness debuffs, lost zones, a legendary cloak, and a lot more. If you want to find out how the Horrific Visions worked exactly, here’s our guide from back in BfA.
“of N’Zoth”
The lore implications are also very interesting here. These visions were previously very much linked to N’Zoth, literally being called Horrific Visions of N’Zoth. Xal’atath does have some pretty significant connections to this specific Old God already, seeing as he was the one that freed her from her artifact dagger prison.
So it’s likely we’ll be seeing some new visions. They’ll probably be linked to her and possibly related to her digging around N’Zoth’s grave or places of his power. We don’t know if the maps will remain in the two capital cities or whether they’ll spread out to other zones as well. There were Lesser Visions available in other parts of the world during patch 8.3, but were much smaller in scope from the main ones. They were also related to N’Zoth’s assaults, which could be part of the patch, but were not mentioned.
Are you looking forward to the Visions? Do you think the Corrupted gear system with its crazy abilities will return?
