While perhaps not on the massive Midnight expansion feature announcement hype level, one particular change coming with the new expansion is fantastic! Blizzard have added automatic switching between transmog sets!
Auto-Switching Mog Via “Situations”
It’s time to get some more transmog setups for Midnight, as you’ll need them! Blizzard announced they will be adding the ability to automatically switch between pre-set transmog outfits! Players will be able to save individual item slots with triggers, names “Situations”. Each of these sets will have conditions that will automatically switch your transmog to that outfit when the pre-set Situation happens.
For example, you can have a lounging around your house outfit that will automatically appear when you zone into the new Housing zone! We also found out that spec-switching will also be a selectable Situation, meaning each spec will get its own potential outfit “slot”!
We don’t know how many sets there will be or what conditions we can set to trigger them yet. But it seems like a safe bet we at least get a “combat” outfit and a “lounging” one, and perhaps even an open-world exploration type. And even if it’s just those, it’s already a great feature. R/Transmogrification is about to explode!
Free Switch and Save a LOT of Gold!
For this feature to work, obviously the auto-switching has to be free. And it is! It would be quite the thing if players would auto-lose 1,000+ gold when zoning in and out of different locations. Blizzard explained that players will only pay to set the individual gear slot to whichever item they want. After that that slot (not individual item) is set and any item placed in it will automatically be transmogged to the selected one. This will save a large amount of gold for players, especially early on in an expansion, where you’d have to pay for every new upgrade item if you wanted to transmog it. Now you just select your look for that particular slot (helm, chest, etc.) and it doesn’t matter what item you put in there, the mog will be active!
