Bismuth Lockbox that’s not only rare in quality, but also has an upgrade track!

First_Folly ran across a very special lockbox, that appeared to be upgradeable on the Explorer track. Now, obviously this isn’t possible, so what exactly is happening here? Well, it seems likely that we’re getting a peek at what’s inside the box. An item is waiting in there that is both rare (blue) quality and item level 564 AKAExplorer 3/8!

Of course, you can never know with bugs like this, and you can always be sure the WoW community has some amazing alternative interpretations of what’s going on. One of our favorite theories is an answer to what happens if you upgrade the lockbox:
Then there’s the weapon theory, as the lockbox could be a brand new type, but one we’re simply not ready to use yet:
