There is plenty of new information coming out of the post-Warcraft Direct press tour. Today we have a lot more information on player housing, the definitive main announcement from the event.

A New Team and a Long Road

In an interview with Daily Star, Vice President for World of Warcraft Holly Longdale discussed the new feature coming in Midnight. In it, she mentioned that player housing will be here to stay once it launches, mentioning it’s going to be a “journey for the next couple of decades”. She also talked about how Blizzard built a whole new team around the feature, so it seems it’s in good hands!

A Reveal Next Year and Garrison Comparison

We then have a lot more information from Taliesin and Evitel’s interview with Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Assistant Lead Quest Designer Mark Kelada. First off, we will be finding out more about the system at the start of the year, which is great news! Housing will also be less isolated than Garrisons were, as they want the feature to be much more social. Speaking of the Warlords of Draenor feature, Garrisons were never intended as housing, but more of a forward military base. They also had player power attached, which is not the intent for the housing system. Hazzikostas reiterated Longdale’s statement that housing is intended to be an evergreen feature, getting expanded in future patches and expansions.

The key point mentioned was that Blizzard want player feedback on the system as early as possible. And not only what players want but also what they don’t want.

So, what are you expecting or wanting from the system?
