It’s time to dip back into the first raid of the War Within, this time with a look at just how many players are playing each spec! We’ve already taken a peek at the early DPS numbers, and tomorrow brings our regularly scheduled log rankings as well, but now let’s dive into the spec popularity!
Nerub-ar Numb-ers
The data comes from Warcraft Logs, as they chart how many players are logging each spec’s runs. The numbers are very different between Normal and Heroic, with the easier difficulty having between 4 and 5 times more logs. And don’t forget, this is all going to change at least a little with next week’s reset, as the big tuning pass arrives.
Normal
We’ll start with the much more populated category, as Normal ranges from 220 to 10 thousand players per spec. Paladins are at the top with around a 10% lead, with Fury and Arcane almost tied for 2nd. Frost and Affliction round out the top 5. And at the bottom, we see a whole lot of Rogues, Fire and, perhaps surprisingly, Arms, with the Mage coming in just under 10,000 players.
Heroic
As you can see, 4-5 times fewer players have ventured into Heroic on this first week. The top 3 is actually comprised of the same specs, but it’s flipped around from Normal, with Arcane on top and Ret on the bottom. Affliction and Frost DK also swap, with the Warlock gaining the upper hand. We dive in under 30 thousand right after Havoc, as Beast Mastery sits in 7th, just ahead of Elemental. At the bottom, we find a slightly different picture than Normal. While Fire is still very much the worst, coming in at not even 1.5K, Destruction makes an appearance in the penultimate spot, but with a much more respectable 4.2. Subtlety and Arms didn’t manage to break away, and Evoker is also very close to the bottom, coming in at just under 8.5K.
