It’s time to take another look at just which classes are the most played in the raid! It’s been a while since we checked in, the first week in fact! So let’s see if Paladins are still dominating (they are) and where every other spec is at.
Nerub-ar Numb-ers
The data comes from Warcraft Logs, as they chart how many players are logging each spec’s runs. The numbers are very different between Mythic, Normal and Heroic, with the hardest and easiest difficulties having far fewer logs, as Heroic dominates. We’re taking a look at the past two weeks worth of data.
Mythic DPS
Starting with the big one, Mythic sees Retribution still sitting at the very top. The spec has been solidly in the top 10 for the entire expansion, but its massive popularity doesn’t seem tied to its performance, as we see the No.1 performing DPS spec is down in 4th with half the Paladin’s numbers. The drop-off to 2nd place is huge, as Fury is 50K down, with the rest of the specs pretty close together in the top 10. Non-Assassination Rogues are at the very bottom, barely scratching together 10k combined.
Heroic DPS
Then we come to the BIG numbers, as the Heroic population is just under 5 times larger than Mythic. Retribution alone sports half a million logs over the last two weeks! We still see an almost 2x drop in 2nd, where Beast Mastery sits on 268K. Destruction sits in third, as it’s been doing a lot better on the charts in the past few weeks, even pushing past Enhancement! Frost Mage is also a lot more popular since the buffs, making it all the way to 6th at 255K. The two Rogues are just as unpopular here as in Mythic, but Fire decided to get between them.
Normal is actually shockingly similar to Mythic, with Ret sitting at the top with 121K and Subtlety at the bottom with 4.5K.
Mythic Tanks
We see a non Paladin at the top?? What? Blood manages to be the lone dissenter in the melee camp in Mythic, racking up a big 46K ahead of Paladin’s 26! Demon Hunters find themselves at the bottom, but are very close to Druids and Monks.
Heroic Tanks
We see a 3X increase in tanks for Heroic, not quite as big an improvement as on Mythic. However, we do see Paladins back on top in the easier and more popular difficulty! Blood is back down in 2nd with 40K less, and Monks are in last place this time.
Mythic Healers
Resto Shamans lead the way with 90K, and there’s a big gap down to No.2 and Holy Priest. Discipline finds itself down in the dumps, also with half the numbers of the penultimate spot.
Heroic Healers
Healers also do a 3X in the Mythic vs. Heroic population department. Shamans are still at the top with almost 280K, with Holy Priest also still in 2nd. Preservation grabs the dead-last spot, but is very close to Discipline.
