We have another bizarre and very teleporty one on our hands! It seems players need to be careful with their battle resurrections, as they may find themselves on the other side of the world. And in an entirely different type of instance!
A Long Strange Trip Indeed
Spazzmodus was pretty shocked after dying in the Blackrock Depths raid and accepting a battle rez from a group member. Aside from the dying itself, coming back to life had more consequences than the usual, as Spazzmodus found themselves inside Dire Maul, and at a boss no less!
As you can see, they’re still very much in the raid, but also very much killed my Immol’thar in Dire Maul after taking the resurrection. Luckily it didn’t take long for the WoW community to figure out what happened!
Double Jeopardy Resurrection
Obviously, this was a result of a bug, but what actually happened? Well, it’s pretty simple and pretty weird. An earlier battle resurrection, one taking place in Dire Maul at Immol’thar, was activated instead of the new one in the raid! When presented with the explanation, Spazzmodus recalled that they did indeed play Dire Maul a few hours before the raid. They died and got the battle resurrection prompt, but had already pressed their own Reincarnate instead. It seems that particular brez was then queued up and was just waiting to go off at the next opportunity!
And so instead of simply picking up where they left off mid-fight in Blackrock Depths, it was time to solo Immol’thar. As you can imagine (and see above), it did not go well. This is definitely one of the more bizarre and fun bugs we’ve seen in quite a while. Hopefully, the raid still managed to down the boss without Spazzmodus – it was only LFR after all!
As you can also imagine, the WoW community, aside from having top-class detectives for this sort of thing, also had some pretty classic remarks that had nothing to do with the bug, and were pretty hilarious:
So the big lesson here is: if you’re going to post a weird bug onto r/wow, maybe clean up your UI! And also take your battle rezzes!
