Shadowlands Good, PvP = PvE, and More: Which Hill Are You Ready to Die On When It Comes to Controversial WoW Opinions ?

Staff's Avatar by Staff

Everybody’s got a favorite piece of WoW to die for that most others would call controversial. Be it lore, a class you favor, something technical, or an expansion that’s close to your heart. Whatever it is, it’s bound to cause a tempest if you voice it to the community. That’s exactly what The_other_human likely had on their mind when they dropped the question. And boy, did they get some answers, as the gigantic thread is currently sitting on over 2,600 comments!

A Free Flowing Thread

It seems the Reddit mods are in full swing with the holiday spirits, serving a carefully wrapped controversial present. Or are just huge fans of hot buttered popcorn, as they let the moderation restrictions loose on this one!

Shadowlands Good and Other Controversial Takes

To start us off is probably the Alexstrasza of all controversial opinions. Strat_rocker fires off a dragon breath so hot that it blew up the discussion, claiming Shadowlands was an actual good expansion. Collective gasp ensues. As you can see, almost 10% of all comments in the full thread are in response to this ONE comment. The Jailer’s plan is working after all.

A right-in-the-feels moment for many comes from bugsy42, causing a landslide of comments about PvP, and how it plays second fiddle to PvE. A very direct, almost down-to-earth comment to potentially explain why that is comes from JayManCreeps.

Slamming the table with a real kicker, considering the recent issues with missing currencies which we’ve also covered, is teleologicalrizz. That’s a Mount Hyjal-sized pile of players that would happily die on this hill since the upvotes skyrocketed.

Quick, solid jabs at Blizzard’s class balancing, encounter design, end game, and the entire journey of leveling come from Aftershock416 and Japjer. Both also created a cascade of comments.

Then there’s ones that are much more preference than opinion necessarily, as we have the options available.

And then there’s some particularly steep hills where we might find a lot of corpses.

The overall response to the original question is overwhelming. It’s to be expected when a mana bomb like this is dropped, but it’s still an awesome number. And there’s an incredible amount of downright interesting, and highly controversial, hills to die on in there. It’s also impossible to cover them all. So if you’ve got a hill that’ll make someone go “hey, wait a minute!”, hop on over to the discussion and plant your flag.

Oh, and Sorry-Pin6601 asks the most important question about DPS and high end raiding. Fashion before rotation.
