The Great “Thunderfury” One-Up: How Many Can You Equip?

Staff's Avatar by Staff

An old bug has been making the rounds in the community again, and seems to have sparked a bit of a one-upmanship competition! Just how many (fake) Thunderfuries can one player have on them??

A relatively common weapon appearance bug has caused some excited posts over on r/wow, as players are getting a lot more than the one “Thunderfury” showing on their chars!

So far, so normal… well as far as bugs go at least. But, never being satisfied with just a normal bug, the WoW community took it a step further. Because why would you want a measly three “Thunderfuries” equipped when you can have four!

It was the fake Thunderfury master, Giggity, that one-upped themselves, as the second gif laughs at the paltry three swords. But wait, did we say fake Thunderfury? As those eagle-eyed of you probably already noticed and yelled at your screens… that’s not the REAL Thunderfury, is it?

A secondary discussion rose up in the two threads, as players were very quick to point out that, while it technically is A Thunderfury in the gifs above, it’s not THE Thunderfury. You see that’s the Hallowed Blade of the Windlord, the artifact customization for Outlaw Rogue’s The Dreadblades iconThe Dreadblades. This apparently offended some purists, with many comments on how there’s actually zero Thunderfuries in the gifs. After all, there really is only one Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker iconThunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker! Source: a Warrior main.

Now THIS is four Thunderfuries:

Whichever fury of the thunder variety you prefer, it’s a fun little visual bug and we hope it sticks around!
