The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this past reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular DPS Specs in Mythic+
We’re changing things up a little here as we take a look at a very useful Raider.IO chart. This one shows spec popularity across each individual key! Arcane is really taking over in the top keys as Unholy and Balance’s popularity just keeps rising as we move up the numbers. The Shamans and Hunters keep getting squeezed out as we get past the 15s, along with most other specs, in favor of the prevailing group composition.
Then we’re back to the overall raw spec numbers. We can see the top four specs all dropping some percentage chunks. Arcane seems to be syphoning all those chunks, as it’s bursting up, just as it is in the damage charts, gaining a full 2% in 5th.
Group Composition Popularity
We can safely say there’s one very predominant comp taking the reins here. Sitting with a “slight” 16ish% advantage, Vengeance, Disc, Unholy, Balance, and Arcane comprise 20.9% of all runs this past reset. There’s two other comps worth mentioning, although they both sit at 5.4%, swapping out the Arcane Mage for an Elemental Shaman and Marksmanship Hunter, respectively. The rest of the groups are pretty close.
And so while Retribution is still the top spec overall, and Marksmanship is right behind it, it’s pretty clear this is very much an Unholy/Balance/Arcane sort of period in the dungeons.
