UPDATE: Interesting-Union369, whose real name is Ítalo, approached us and sent us a video of how they defeated the Time-Lost Proto-Drake!
One of the most wanted mounts in WoW is always a hot topic. Players have been hunting for one since it first appeared in Wrath of the Lich King, and it’s one of those really tricky ones to get.
It has a pretty long patrol route and there’s always players hunting for it, and only one group (or individual if they don’t invite anyone) can get it! That’s not even mentioning the players that advertise a group in LFG but then just want to sell you the right to an invite… So even seeing one in the first place is rare, but actually getting to loot is on a whole other level, especially if it dies mid-air and you can’t get to it like some tragic players.
That is, unless you just magically teleport right in its path!
The Luckiest Engineer on Azeroth
Interesting-Union369 was heading off to Northrend (whether it was to actually check for the 
Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake is unclear), which is pretty easy when you’re an engineer. You just pop that 
Wormhole Generator: Northrend, select your zone, and you’re in a random location in the zone! Well, this particular wormhole was very prescient, as it Interesting-Union369 appeared right in front of one of the most sought-after mounts in the game!
And just like that, the pretty awesome protodrake got another new owner! As you’d expect, the comments in the thread ranged from envious to “happy for you…”, but there were plenty of tales of other drakes as well, starting with a child witnessing their father’s glory in getting a mount they’d been looking for since before they were born (the son, that is, not the father, that would just be weird and time-loopy).
Then there’s the “it was much harder in my day” side of things.
And the slight regret of paranoia causing you to grab it for yourself and not look for people to invite, for fear of someone else getting it and not inviting you!
However, nothing will ever beat that incredible, legendary timelapse video of one player waiting a loong time for the spawns, killing the drake, then being unable to loot it – with a happy ending!
So the next time you want to see Northrend and are an engineer, try out the wormhole. It may just rewards you with a very special mount!
