Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake is one of the most sought-after mounts in WoW, but securing it doesn’t always mean you’ll get to keep it! One unlucky player learned this the hard way after taking down the rare spawn mid-air, only to see its corpse disappear into the ground, making it impossible to loot.
The player, who shared their frustrating experience on Reddit, explained that panic led him to engage the rake while it was still flying high above the icy peaks of Storm Peaks. The kill was successful, but the drake’s body fell into inaccessible terrain, making it impossible to loot.
They attempted everything to retrieve it, including kiting mobs nearby in hops of looting via AoE loot, but nothing worked. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time players have reported this issue, leading to concerns about how the game handles airborne mobs.
The OP submitted a ticket to Blizzard Support, and while there’s hope for a resolution, it serves as a cautionary tale for other players chasing the mount. If you’re going after it, make sure to make it land so you don’t risk losing one of the most prized mounts in the game!
