Marksmanship breaks through the very top, as 11.0.7 has truly become the Hunter spec’s triumph! It seems Blizzard isn’t nerfing the Hunters quite yet, and it’s unclear whether they will after the new year either. We take a look at what’s happening and why the spec is so powerful, but in short, one ability was overbuffed in the tuning.
Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.
Mythic
Overall Damage 95th Percentile
We have green at the top after quite a while, as Marksmanship continues to dominate. Our MM guide writer, Azortharion, dove into what exactly is happening with the spec, so let’s take a look! In short, Dark Ranger’s Black Arrow got a seemingly accidental 60% buff, and is doing about 50% more damage than it’s supposed to after the buffs.
The Shamans are now stuck together under their new Hunter overlord, with Assassination in tow. We see a double Rogue-Mage setup follow, with Frost taking down Subtlety and Fire Outlaw. Affliction makes a grand appearance in the top 10, gaining a giant 9 spots in 9th, after having escaped the bottom three last week! Devastation closes out the top 10 one spot down, as Destruction gets pushed out of the top 10 entirely. While those two Warlocks specs are doing quite well, Demonology finds itself on the opposite end of the spectrum, down in the bottom 3.
Overall Damage All Percentiles
The Black-Arrow-infused Hunter has an even bigger lead in the overall charts, as they wait to see if and when Blizzard choose to nerf them. Enhancement pushes past Subtlety, as the non-Assassination Rogues aren’t doing so well this week, with Outlaw dropping 3 spots out of the top 10 as well. Frost Mage climbs back up and sets its sights on Fire, gaining 4 spots. After the Mage team-up, we have a Warlock one, with Affliction moving past Destro in 8th. Devastation drops 3 spots into 10th, and we see a 10-spot surge from Feral to move into 12th behind Outlaw.
Boss Only Damage All Percentiles
As you saw in the video above, MM’s single target damage is unmatched, as it separates itself out from the pack here. Feral is also bursting up, gaining a giant 13 spots to land in 4th!
Heroic Damage All Percentiles
Arms gets to the top of the lower difficulty charts, pushing Assassination down. The Hunters keep together while Subtlety eclipses Devastation.

We still have double-Hellcaller at the top in the raw DPS charts, with Fury taking Arms’ place in 4th, with the Rogues and Shamans gathering up after that.
