A player decided to run an experiment to maximize their chances of getting accepted into groups, and to determine what Raider.IO score and item levels are expected for different key levels. This experiment was done for Priory of the Sacred Flame.
The Experiment
Aqual07 conducted this experiment on March 27, tracking the ilvl and IO score of the first 40 applicants for the most popular key levels: +2s, +7s, and +10s. Let’s look at what the average player brings to the table for each key.
+2 Priory Applicants:
- Average IO: 305
- Average ilvl: 636
- Top 5 IO: 1195
- Top 5 ilvl: 651
+7 Priory Applicants:
- Average IO: 1942
- Average ilvl: 652
- Top 5 IO: 2060
- Top 5 ilvl: 662
+10 Priory Applicants:
- Average IO: 2420
- Average ilvl: 662
- Top 5 IO: 2675
- Top 5 ilvl: 663

Experiment Results
The data was a bit surprising. The average IO score for +7s is almost 2,000 – meaning these players have already timed more than half the dungeon pool at +7 and are still applying for them. The gap between +2s and +7s is huge: from an average IO of around 300 to almost 2,000, and ilvl jumping from 636 to nearly 652.
With a gap this large, it makes sense that +10s aren’t much higher than +7s – only about 400 IO points more, and 10 ilvls higher.

Advice for Better Queues
Tools to use:
Log your Mythic+ runs and set up your Raider.IO profile properly (mark your main and alts).
Finding and joining groups:
- Use PGF to sort groups.
- Stick to one role when queuing.
- Look for “ugly” keys (missing tank/healer, low IO leader, mid-range keystones).
Tips to get invited:
- Use the note – mention helpful things like “shroud skip” if you’re a rogue.
- Enchant your gear – it’s an easy way to show you care.
- When joining a group, a simple message like: “Hey, headed over to the dungeon now. Need one more to start summoning 🙂” can improve your chances of staying in.
Team-building mindset:
- Never skip a friend’s “homework key.”
- Take chances on lower IO players – they might become future teammates.
- And above all: be friendly. If that’s tough, just turn chat off and keep the good vibes going.
And most important of all:
Have fun – the IO will follow!
