On this page, you will find Protection Warrior specific information pertaining to each boss in the Ny'alotha raid.
Additionally, this page assumes you are familiar with the mechanics on each fight. The basics of the tank mechanics are not explained, but rather advice is given on how Protection Warriors can best deal with those mechanics.

Talent and Essence Cheatsheet
Wrathion, the Black Emperor
We advise you to use the following essences against Wrathion, the Black Emperor.

Tips
Use Heroic Leap and Intercept to get back to or away from the boss when needed.
You should use Spell Reflection to reduce the damage taken from the second cast of Searing Breath.
When you are not tanking the boss, try to stand on the side of him as to not get hit by Tail Swipe or Searing Breath.

Maut

Tips
Use Heroic Leap to soak the orbs in Phase 2 when needed.
If you need to taunt 2 adds in quick succession, you can use Taunt and then Heroic Leap to instantly reset the cooldown of Taunt.
Use Spell Reflection to reduce the damage coming from Consuming Shadows.

Tips
Use Spell Reflection to reduce the damage taken from Shadow Shock.
This encounter has no physical damage, meaning that you can spend most of your rage on Ignore Pain. Shield Block should be used only when you want to take advantage of the increased damage it provides for Shield Slam.

Tips
Use your cooldowns like Shield Wall, Spell Reflection, and Demoralizing Shout to reduce the damage taken from Abyssal Strike.
Spell Reflection can be used to deflect Touch of Pain.
Heroic Leap and Intercept can be used to position quickly for Torment
Additionally, position the boss in a way that Void Ritual is safe to stand in and that you do not get knocked off the side of the room or into Azshara by Abyssal Strike

Tips
Use Shockwave to stun the adds that spawn when needed.
As this fight has a lot of physical damage, it is very important to keep Shield Block up when actively tanking the boss.

Tips
Crush can be blocked, which means that, as a Protection Warrior, we should be the ones taking this ability.
Be careful not to take both Crush and Dissolve, as Crush increases the damage you take from Dissolve by a lot, meaning that you will most likely die.
Use Spell Reflection to reduce the magic damage taken in this fight.

Use Heroic Leap and Intercept to make dropping Volatile Seed a lot faster and easier.
Use Rallying Cry when the raid is about to take damage from Entropic Crash and people are low on health.

Tips
Be sure to face the boss away from the raid so they will not get hit by Eye of N'Zoth.
Use Rallying Cry when needed to keep people alive during Cursed Blood.
Use a cooldown like Demoralizing Shout, Spell Reflection or Shield Wall to reduce the damage from the second Eye of N'Zoth.

Tips
Shattered Resolve can be reflected back to the boss with Spell Reflection at the last second to deal damage to it.
This fight has a considerable amount of magic damage, so be sure to make good use of your cooldowns to reduce it as much as possible.

Tips
Try to use a defensive cooldown like Spell Reflection or Demoralizing Shout together with Ignore Pain before getting hit by Nullifying Strike.
You should try to have as low health as possible before getting hit by Decaying Strike. This will leave a Decaying Wound debuff on the target damaging them based on the health they had when they were hit by Decaying Strike. You can use Last Stand after getting hit by the Decaying Strike to give yourself a health buffer.

Mandible Slam is blockable and you can also use Spell Reflection to deflect Black Scar that is applied after Mandible Slam.
You can use Spell Reflection to deflect Nightmare Antibody.

Tips
Anguish, Void Gaze, Probe Mind and Paranoia can all be deflected with Spell Reflection.
Mindwrack and the physical part of Void Lash are blockable. Because Mindwrack is blockable you should also be the one tanking the Thought Harvester.
