The Severed Threads Renown Guide

The Severed Threads is the fourth major faction you will encounter in the War Within Expansion in Azj-Kahet. It is comprised of 3 patrons: The General, The Vizier, and The Weaver.

Renown in the War Within

Renown is shared between all members of your Warband in the War Within. The maximum Renown you can earn in the War Within is 25.

How to Increase Renown with the Severed Threads

You cannot directly increase your reputation gains with the faction. Instead, you will be gaining reputation with its individual patrons. Each reputation rank will increase your Renown with Severed Threads by 1. Each patron has 8 ranks of reputation.

You can increase your Renown with the faction by completing World Quests in Azj-Kahet, defeating Rares, opening Treasure Chests in the zone, and completing assignments by forging a pact with one of the Severed Threads leader.

Additionally, you will also receive reputation from the Khaz Algar Lore Hunter Icon Khaz Algar Lore Hunter achievement and from the Weekly Quests Bonus Event quest if you choose to increase your Renown with the faction.

You will find your current Renown standing with the faction by clicking on the Khaz Algar Summary Tab button on your minimap.

The Severed Threads Quartermaster

Y'tekhi, located at 55.27, 41.2 in The Weaver's Lair (Azj-Kahet), is the quartermaster of the faction.

The Severed Threads Contract

Contract: The Severed Threads is an item from Inscription that you can use every week. It grants your whole Warband additional reputation while completing World Quests in Khaz Algar.

The Severed Threads Achievement

The The Severed Threads Icon The Severed Threads achievement requires you to reach rank 15 with the faction. We Rise Anew Icon We Rise Anew is the achievement your character will receive upon earning maximum 25 Renown with the Severed Threads. It grants credit toward the Khaz Algar Diplomat Icon Khaz Algar Diplomat achievement.

The Severed Threads Renown Rewards

Level 1: Cutting the Cord — You have begun to earn Renown with The Severed Threads.

Level 2: Kej Vendors Unlocked — You may now trade with vendors in Azj-Kahet that accept Kej.
Level 3: Small Kej Wallet — Speak to Y'tekhi in The Weaver's Lair to receive a Small Kej Wallet.
Level 3: Small Kej Wallet — Speak to Lady Vinazian in The Weaver's Lair to receive a Small Kej Wallet.
Level 3: In The Shadows — You may now enter weekly Pacts, granting access to abilities, buffs, and events in Azj-Kahet.
Level 4: Nerubian Teachings — You may acquire recipes for Oil of Deep Toxins, Algari Alchemist Stone, and Contract: The Severed Threads from Y'tekhi in The Weaver's Lair.

Level 24: A Heroic Reward — Speak to Lady Vinzaian in The Weaver's Lair to receive an Enchanted Runed Harbinger Crest. This can be used as an optional reagent to increase a crafted item's level up to 606.
Level 24: A Heroic Reward — Speak to Lady Vinzaian in The Weaver's Lair to receive an Enchanted Runed Harbinger Crest. This can be used as an optional reagent to increase a crafted item's level up to 606.
Level 25: No Loose Threads — You may bear the title "Thread-Spinner" to honor your contributions to the Severed Threads.

The Severed Threads Pact System

Starting at Level 80, you can enter into a Pact with one of the faction's Patrons.

This pact is Warbound and cannot be changed for the whole week, so think twice before committing to one of the patrons!

Your Pact patron will grant you access to unique information, insights, and will even equip you with unique power.

8.1.

The General

You will gain access to the following abilities at various reputation ranks with The General.

Heavy Ordnance — As an agent of the General, drop waves of explosives to deal massive damage to Anub'azal's enemies.
City Rumors — Complete Rumors throughout Azj-Kahet. Start Rumors by locating Brokers or purchasing maps from Yamas the Provider.
Pheromones: The Skeins (Requires Crony) — Gain Pheromones that allow entry into The Skeins. You may engage with citizens, but guards will see through your ruse if you get too close.
Treasures: Forgotten Memorials (Requires Crony) — Aspirant Klipka is on pilgrimate to Forgotten Memorials in Azj-Kahet. Pay your respects and duel him to receive a tribute.
The General's Order (Requires Accomplice) — Anub'azal has a new task for you. Seek him out in the Weaver's Lair.
General's Phalanx (Requires Collaborator) — When your Pact is with the General, The General's Phalanx safeguards you. When an attack would casue you to die, absorb the attack and become immune to all damage for 10 seconds.
Notoriety Pays Off (Requires Accessory) — The General's War Chest received from completing "Blade of the General" will award even more Kej.
General's Bulwark (Requires Abettor) — When your Pact is with the General, The General's Bulwark safeguards you. When an attack would cause you to die, absorb the attack and become immune to all damage for 10 seconds.
The General's Conviction (Requires Abettor) — Abub'azal has an important task for you. Seek him out in the Weaver's Lair.
Heritage Undercrawler (Requires Conspirator) — One of the General's prized war mounts can now be purchased from the Severed Threads Quartermaster.
'Anub' Title (Requires Mastermind) — Display a title befitting your stats as one of the General's premier commanders.
Crypt Lord's Severed Thread (Requires Mastermind) — Adds a unique visual effect to the hearthstone sold by the Severed Threads Qusrtermaster, allowing you to return home in style.

8.2.

The Vizier

Forging a pact with the Vizier allows you to unlock the following perks at various ranks:

Unstable Concoction — As an agent of the Vizier, cycle through a variety of experimental potions to achieve a variety of unique effects.
City Rumors — Complete Rumors throughout Azj-Kahet. Start Rumors by locating Brokers or purchasing maps from Yamas the Provider.
Treasures: Kaheti Excavations (Requires Crony) — Dor'garad has set up sites around Azj-Kahet in search of artifacts for the Vizier. Assist her in these efforts to receive a gift.
The Vizier's Entreaty (Requires Accomplice) — Executor Nizrek has a new task for you. Seek him out in the Royal Apothecary.
World Buff: Vizier's Savvy (Requires Collaborator) — When you Pact is with the Vizier, the amount of Kej currency received is increased by 10%.
Notoriety Pays Off [needs different tag from the above] (Requires Accessory) — The Vizier's Capital received from completing "Hands of the Vizier" will award even more Kej.
World Buff: Vizier's Supremacy (Requires Abettor) — When your Pact is with the Vizier, the amount of Kej currency received is increased by 20%.
The Vizier's Resolve (Requires Abettor) — Executor Nizrek has an important task for you. Seek him out in the Royal Apothecary.
Royal Court Undercrawler (Requires Conspirator) — One of the Vizier's more eclectic companions can now be purchased from Severed Threads Quartermaster.
'Hand of the Vizier' Title (Requires Mastermind) — Display a title befitting your status as one of the Vizier's most trusted confidantes.
Executor's Severed Thread (Requires Mastermind) — Adds a unique visual effect to the hearthstone sold by the Severed Threads Quartermaster, allowing you to return home in style.

8.3.

The Weaver

To adjust the abilities with the Weaver you actually need to talk to Bobbin Eyes of the Weaver, at 56.41, 43.29, in Azj-Kahet. The following perks will unlock with the Weaver at various ranks:

Woven Cocoon — As an agent of the Weaver, conjure enchanted webs to conceal yourself from foes--or to ensnare your enemies in a deadly trap.
City Rumors — Complete Rumors throughout Azj-Kahet. Start Rumors by locating Brokers or purchasing maps from Yamas the Provider.
Pheromones: High Hollows (Requires Crony) — Gain Pheromones that allow entry into the High Hollows. You may engage with citizens, but guards will see through your ruse if you get too close.
Treasure Map: Weave-Rat Cache (Requires Crony) — Thimble has located hidden caches in the crevices of Azj-Kahet. Find and follow her to reap the riches inside them.
The Weaver's Request (Requires Accomplice) – Widow Arak'nai has a new task for you. Seek her out in the Weaver's Lair.
World Buff: Weaver's Tutelage (Requires Collaborator) — When your Pact is with the Weaver, Profession Crafting and Gathering speed is increased by 15%.
Notoriety Pays Off [We need a third tag for this] (Requires Accessory) — The Weaver's Gratuity received from completing "Eyes of the Weaver" will award even more Kej.
World Buff: Weaver's Prodigy (Requires Abettor) — When your Pact is with the Weaver, Profession Crafting and Gathering speed increased by 30%.
The Weaver's Legacy (Requires Abettor) — Widow Arak'nai has an important task for you. Seek her out in the Weaver's Lair.
Widow's Undercrawler (Requires Conspirator) — One of the Weaver's personal menagerie can now be purchased from the Severed Threads Quartermaster.
'Silksinger' Title (Requires Mastermind) — Display a title befitting your status as one of the Weaver's foremost operatives.
Spymaster's Severed Thread (Requires Mastermind) — Adds a unique visual effect to the hearthstone sold by the Severed Threads Quartermaster, allowing you to return home in style.
