- Mythic Strategy: learn how to handle the new mechanics and increased difficulty of Mythic mode.
Lore
Tichondrius is one of the 5 bosses that can be fought in an order of the raid's choosing.
The dreadlord Tichondrius, once leader of the nathrezim, was once slain by the newly awakened power of none other than Illidan Stormrage. Reconstituted in the Twisting Nether, Tichondrius returns to watch over Gul'dan on behalf of the Legion, ensuring that the orc warlock does not once again fail his masters.
Outline
Tichondrius is a four phase encounter in the Nighthold. Most of the fight involves light cleave while damaging the boss. There is also an intermission phase that involves a "dance" while cleaving down weak adds. Phase Three and Phase Four are identical to Phase One, however, they introduce new adds to the fight that will affect positioning and your groups tactical approach to the encounter. The fight tends to favor ranged as none of the adds can be tanked on top of the boss, making efficient cleave impossible for melee.
TL;DR
Tanks
- Avoid tanking adds within 30 yards of Tichondrius due to his Vampiric Aura.
- Take the Tainted Bloods away from the boss after being marked by Tichondrius' Feast of Blood.
- Avoid the Nether Zones placed by the Felsworn Spellguards.
Healers
- Pay special attention to the players afflicted with Carrion Plague.
- Have healing cooldowns prepared for the detonations from Brand of Argus.
- Quickly get out of the group and dispel Burning Soul when the Sightless Watchers are present.
DPS
- Players afflicted with Carrion Plague should position carefully to avoid hitting multiple people with Seeker Swarm and potentially spreading Carrion Plague to other members of the group.
- Spread out and safely coordinate detonations of Brand of Argus with the healers to avoid fatalities.
- Quickly kill Tainted Bloods after the tank has moved them out of range of Tichondrius' Vampiric Aura.
- Quickly kill the Felsworn Spellguards and Sightless Watchers present in the later phases of the encounter.
- Quickly kill the Phantasmal Bloodfangs present in the intermission phase to gain Essence of Night.
Everyone
- Ensure your group is evenly spread behind the pillars during Echoes of the Void to avoid being killed.
- Avoid Tichondrius' blasts of Carrion Nightmare during the Illusionary Night phase.
- Beware of Ring of Shadows, cast by the Sightless Watchers.
Mythic Difficulty
- Seeker Swarm stops after connecting with a target, while Carrion Nightmare increases damage taken by Seeker Swarm by 1000% on Mythic. A soak rotation should be established to ensure the safety of players afflicted with Carrion Nightmare. This is best done by tanks and players with immunities such as Cloak of Shadows.
- Brand of Argus now drops a pool of fire when it detonates. Predetermined detonation locations should be assigned to maximize real estate in the room.
- All players must obtain Essence of Night on Mythic or they will be instantly killed when Illusionary Night concludes.
Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp
Bloodlust usage on this fight is very flexible. It is recommended to use it after Illusionary Night ends when as many players as possible have obtained Essence of Night for maximum damage. It can also be used to deal with Felsworn Spellguards or Sightless Watchers if you are struggling to kill them.
