Briefly About Time Rifts
Time Rifts are world events taking place in Thaldraszus (Tyrhold Reservoir) and 7 alternate realities of Azeroth, consisting of two phases. The goal is to complete at least one Time Rift per week for weekly quest rewards, but you can farm them endlessly for Paracausal Flakes, the event's currency, that you turn in for Item Level 454 gear, cosmetics, mounts, toys, and battle pets.
What is the Minimum Level Requirement for Time Rifts?
You must be at least level 60 and above to participate in Time Rifts and pick up the weekly quest. However, rewards from the weekly quest that guarantee rewards in your next Time Rift require level 70 for use.
Where Are Time Rifts Located?
Whenever a Time Rift is up, it will be marked with a "horn" icon on the map of Thaldraszus. When you hover over the icon, you will see more details about the Time Rift, like the time remaining until a new one starts, the weekly reward you can claim, and more.
How Often Are Time Rifts Up?
Time Rifts spawn every hour and take about 15 minutes to complete.
How to Start a Time Rift?
When the timer is up, talk to Soridormi at the Tyrhold Reservoir who will have a dialogue option for you to start the Time Rift.
Time Rift Stages
Time Rifts consist of two stages. Both take place in different areas, and the objectives will vary.
Time Rift Stage One
The first stage lasts for 9 minutes and revolves around filling the Temporal Essence bar to 7,500 by completing various tasks at the Tyrhold Reservoir. This phase is very similar to Grand Hunts. The tasks include completing mini-puzzles, defeating enemies, or collecting quest items in the area.
Every 2,500 Temporal Essence, you will receive a bag which contains Paracausal Flakes and gold.
- Earning 2,500 Temporal Essence during Phase 1 gives you a green Box of Tampered Reality bag.
- Earning 5,000 Temporal Essence during Phase 1 gives you a blue Box of Tampered Reality bag.
- Earning 7,500 Temporal Essence during Phase 1 gives you an epic Box of Tampered Reality bag.
Time Rift Stage Two
During the second stage, you must take a portal to an alternate reality located at Tyrhold Reservoir and defeat a Fractured Causality within.
Fractured Causalities take on the form of various NPCs like the Lich King, Illidan, and more.
There are 7 possible alternate realities of Azeroth you can visit during the Time Rift.
- Azmourne — An alternate reality of Azeroth where the scourge is ruling. You fight the Lich King here.
- A.Z.E.R.O.T.H — A mecha-version of Azeroth. You fight a robot boss here.
- Azewrath — An alternate reality where you face off against Illidan.
- Warlands — An alternate reality of Azeroth with a never-ending battle between the Alliance and the Horde.
- Azq'roth — An alternate reality where the Black Empire is ruling over Azeroth.
- Azmerloth — A Murloc alternate reality of Azeroth.
- Ulderoth — An alternate reality where the Titans took control over Azeroth.
Do not forget to use an Encapsulated Destiny or Greater Encapsulated Destiny from the weekly quest before you kill the boss to guarantee yourself a reward from the Time Rift.
Paracausal Flakes (Time Rift Currency)
The currency from Time Rifts is called Paracausal Flakes. You will collect them by completing Time Rifts, the weekly quest gives you 1,000 and Daily Quests available at Eon's Fringe give you additional 70 flakes, and you will receive it from Dawn of the Infinite mega-dungeon bosses too.
You can use Paracausal Flakes to buy goods from the Time Rift vendors.
Paracausal Flakes can be send to your alts for free by purchasing Paracausal Crate, a Bind-to-Account cache, from Shi Everbreeze for 500 Paracausal Flakes. The crate gives 500 flakes to any character that uses it.
