Vectis Strategy/Tactics for Normal/Heroic
Table of Contents
General Information
On this page, you will find a working strategy to defeat Vectis in Uldir for both Normal and Heroic modes, which usually only differ by the tuning of the boss.
Here, we assume that you have read our descriptions of the abilities for this encounter.
The other pages of our Vectis guide can be accessed from the table of contents on the right.
Positioning and Strategy
Phase One
Tank Vectis where he stands, and spread the raid loosely behind him, so as to avoid multiple people being struck by Gestate. At the beginning of the fight, Vectis will apply Omega Vector to several members of the raid.
Make sure to spread the debuff evenly around the raid (by having the desired target be closest to the player on whom Omega Vector is expiring) to ensure everyone stays at relatively low stacks of Lingering Infection. It is important to be keenly aware of exactly who has one of the Omega Vector, as it is possible to have multiple Vectors jump to the same target. If this happens it is tremendously difficult to split the debuffs again. If needed, your raid can also drop Omega Vector on the Tanks, but be sure to keep their stacks low as Evolving Affliction deals Nature damage.
When Gestate is cast, DPS need to be ready to swap to the Plague Amalgam that spawns and kill it as quickly as possible. Classes that can cleave or multi-DoT are encouraged to do so, so long as it does not sacrifice damage on the Amalgam. Healers should be ready with raid cooldowns, as Contagion will often line up with the Immunosuppression cast.
Phase Two
The fight will cycle into Phase Two once four Plague Amalgams have been spawned. The raid must quickly DPS the Amalgam down while dodging a Liquefied Vectis. Melee also need to leave melee range before Vectis completes the Liquefy cast, to ensure they do not gain stacks of Lingering Infection
The raid needs to soak each Plague Bomb with one player (to prevent Plague Amalgams from spawning), and spend the rest of the phase dodging Blood Geysers in order to keep Lingering Infection stacks low.
Tank Concerns
This is not a particularly demanding fight for tanks, but it is important to make sure you are taunt swapping when Evolving Affliction is at two stacks in order to let it drop off the previous Tank. Equally, it is important when picking up the Plague Amalgam not to wander too close to the melee group, as it is possible for them to drop an Omega Vector on you unintentionally.
Healing Concerns
Healers should be rotating cooldowns in order to cover as many Contagion and Immunosuppression as possible. Be mindful of where the Omega Vectors are, and actively keep those players healthy. It is also wise to track Lingering Infection on your raid frames. Not only is it important to know of any outliers on the high end of stacks, but it is also good to be able to make calls when you notice certain people have much lower stacks than the rest of the group.
Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp
We advise you to use Bloodlust/ Heroism/ Time Warp on the pull to synergize with DPS cooldowns and pre-pots.
