Best Hero Talents for Windwalker Monk in The War Within

This page is specifically about Hero Talents in The War Within. If you want to learn more about the best regular talents for Windwalker Monk, check out our Talents page:

1.1.

Raiding Hero Talents for Windwalker Monk

1.1.1.

Conduit of the Celestials

Conduit of the Celestials's primary strength is burst damage, which it does better than Shado-Pan. With the fight designs for Season 2 and the addition of House of Cards Icon House of Cards to give a huge boost of damage every 90 seconds, Conduit of the Celestials will get its time to shine in raids.

1.1.2.

Shado-Pan

Shado-Pan is slightly behind Conduit of the Celestials in single target and can be closer if you don't have strong 90-second trinkets to pair with Conduit of the Celestials.

1.2.

Mythic+ Hero Talents for Windwalker Monk

1.2.1.

Shado-Pan

Shado-Pan is a viable option for Mythic+ as it provides strong and consistent AOE damage through the Shadow buff of Wisdom of the Wall Icon Wisdom of the Wall. It is a less burst-oriented option that may be best for groups that are not planning out their cooldown uses.

1.2.2.

Conduit of the Celestials

Conduit of the Celestials's primary strength is burst damage, which can be very useful in Mythic+. Unfortunately, it doesn't scale with larger target amounts, making it more ideal for groups or dungeons that have smaller pulls or ones where you are planning out cooldown use to take advantage of the more impactful burst window.

Best Hero Talent Builds for Windwalker Monk

Shado-Pan Single-Target Build Shado-Pan Multi-Target Build Conduit of the Celestials Single-Target Build Conduit of the Celestials Multi-Target Build

If you are using two 1-handed weapons then you should drop Rising Star Icon Rising Star for Dual Threat Icon Dual Threat.

NOTES: Shado-pan has a few options that can be changed around depending on your needs and preferences.

  • Dual Threat Icon Dual Threat replaces Xuen's Battlegear Icon Xuen's Battlegear if using two 1H weapons.
  • Brawler's Intensity Icon Brawler's Intensity, Drinking Horn Cover Icon Drinking Horn Cover, and Spiritual Focus Icon Spiritual Focus are both very close to each other, you can use what you are most comfortable with.
  • Martial Mixture Icon Martial Mixture can be used in place of Energy Burst Icon Energy Burst if you'd like to focus a little bit more on priority target damage.
  • If you are using two 1H weapons then you should drop Slicing Winds Icon Slicing Winds for Dual Threat Icon Dual Threat.
  • If a fight has adds that spawn, you can drop Fury of Xuen Icon Fury of Xuen and Transfer the Power Icon Transfer the Power for Last Emperor's Capacitor Icon Last Emperor's Capacitor and Power of the Thunder King Icon Power of the Thunder King for more add damage.

NOTES: Conduit of the Celestials has two talent points that are competitive and offer you different options. The default import chooses both Fury of Xuen Icon Fury of Xuen and Transfer the Power Icon Transfer the Power as recommendations for stronger single target, burst, and larger-target AOE. For the remaining options you can change either one or both of those talent points into any of the following options.

  • Dual Threat Icon Dual Threat should be used if you are using two 1-handed weapons.
  • Last Emperor's Capacitor Icon Last Emperor's Capacitor and Power of the Thunder King Icon Power of the Thunder King are strong options in situations with priority adds or damage amplifying phases.
2.1.

Hero Talents Rotation for Windwalker Monk

2.1.1.

Shado-Pan

Shado-Pan doesn't change the priority very much, putting a large emphasis on avoiding capping Energy since lost Energy is even more lost damage potential for Shado-Pan.

2.1.2.

Conduit of the Celestials

Conduit of the Celestials adds the ability Celestial Conduit Icon Celestial Conduit, which is something that you want to line up with other offensive cooldowns as much as you can. Due to its longer cooldown, you may benefit from holding it so that you can use it for more damage later. This will depend on the fight and timings.
