What is Endgame in Zenless Zone Zero?
Learn all about endgame in Zenless Zone Zero including what is generally considered part of the endgame as well as what endgame content is currently available in Zenless Zone Zero.
What is Endgame in Zenless Zone Zero?
The endgame in Zenless Zone Zero is designed to provide players with engaging and challenging content once the main story is complete and players are at a relatively high Inter-Knot level.
Some pieces of endgame content, for example Shiyu Defense are accessible at lower Inter-Knot levels while other modes are instead only realistically accessible at higher levels. This is because of the investment required for your Agents to be able to clear certain endgame modes.
Compared to other recent Hoyo games such as Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. Zenless Zone Zero so far has introduced new endgame content every single update alongside providing fresh combat experiences and content that requires a wider range of characters to be endgame-ready.
What Content is Considered Endgame in Zenless Zone Zero?
The "Endgame Loop" so to speak generally consists of repeatable daily content, character progression systems and endgame modes that players partake in once at a higher level. The following is often considered part of the Endgame:
- Shiyu Defense
- Hollow Zero
- Deadly Assault
- Simulated Battle Trial
- Endless Tower: The Last Stand
- Events
- Farming Drive Discs
- Completing Dailies
Shiyu Defnese, Hollow Zero, Deadly Assault, Simulated Battle Trial and the Endless Tower are endgame modes providing high difficulty challenges for players at endgame. Content like Events, Dailies and Character Progression instead provide players with the main ways to progress characters for endgame.
When Should You Start Endgame Content in Zenless Zone Zero?
Shiyu Defense
Shiyu Defense is an Endgame Mode in ZZZ where players must defeat waves of enemies within a set time limit. This endgame mode features multiple stages with unique effects. Completing Shiyu Defense grants players with Polychromes for each stage completed and additional rewards for completing stages within the time limit.
Shiyu Defense has several different gameplay modes:
- Stable Nodes are lower level modes while players increase their Inter-Knot. Features enemies lv25-50. Never Resets.
- Critical Node continue the progression from Lv50-70 and provide an Endgame challenge. Resets at the start and middle of each month.
- Disputed Nodes are from lv40-60 and has a more defensive focus with rewards based on how many agents you lose. Never Resets.
Hollow Zero
Hollow Zero provides endgame content where players explore procedurally generated "dungeons" inside of Hollow Zero. Through this mode you collect buffs called Resonium to further enhance your Agents while clearing several boss battles throughout.
The main release of Hollow Zero is generally considered the easiest endgame mode, instead having a weekly reset and unique progression systems allowing you to further upgrade your characters and gameplay mechanics inside of the hollows.
Hollow Zero also has several sub-modes expanded onto it including Inferno Reap and the Lost Void. Inferno Reap is a high-damage challenge against Nineveh with a time limit, your success depends on resonia built up in other modes. Rewards are based on the cumulative damage dealt across multiple attempts.
Lost Void, also known as Shadows Lost instead expands Hollow Zero out of the "TV Mode" allowing you to progress through areas and complete unique challenges. Lost Void also currently houses the weekly rewards available for Hollow Zero.
Deadly Assault
The Deadly Assault Endgame mode in Zenless Zone Zero consists of time-limited battles against specific bosses. These bosses have an increased level alongside new gameplay mechanics while dealing a lot of damage. This mode also requires 3 different teams, one for each boss available.
Deadly Assault also rotates regularly to provide different boss battles as well as new mechanics and buffs for your teams. Based on the amount of damage dealt to the boss, you gain more points which determines your rewards.
Simulated Battle Trial & Endless Tower
The Simulated Battle Trial, also known as Endless Tower are "Battle Tower" style pieces of endgame content where players progress through floors to defeat enemies while the difficulty increases on each floor.
The Endless Tower is part of the Simulated Battle Trial and unlocks as you progress. This allows you to endlessly progress to higher and higher floors to see how far you can make it.
This endgame content also has an expansion called Endless Tower: The Last Stand which expands on the original concept with new gameplay mechanics alongside unique modifiers exclusive to this mode.
