Evelyn's Best Mindscapes

Evelyn's best Mindscape Cinema could be considered her M1: Dreamweave. While Eve can be a strong Attack Agent at M0, her M1 provides 1,500 Decibels at the start of combat. This gives Eve a free and immediate entrance into the Dance of the Awakened state; when used, the Ultimate will permanently lower her Chain Attack's Burning Tether cost by 1 Point. In addition to faster Chain Attacks, the Ignore DEF bonus also applies for all enemies attacked and Bound with her Special or EX Special. As the EX Special Attack is considered a staple in Eve's general rotation, Eve at M1 will see major damage improvements compared to what she is like at M0.

As for Eve's other Mindscape Cinemas, they all have varying levels of utility or benefit for Evelyn's overall gameplay. For example, the ATK bonus from her M2 allows Eve to utilize alternative Best-in-Slot options, on top of Burning Embers refunds. At M4, Eve will always appreciate having more sources of CRIT DMG, and M4's shield can provide 40% while active, while her M6 increases Eve's overall DMG outside of Chain Attacks or Ultimates. Unlocking extra Mindscape Cinemas is not required for Eve, but she will certainly appreciate the bonuses they provide.

# Mindscape Description
M1 Dreamweave Upon entering the battlefield, Evelyn immediately gains 1,500 Decibels. Enemies affected by Binding Seal will be Bound. When Evelyn attacks Bound enemies, she ignores 12% of their DEF. When Evelyn uses Special Attack: Binding Sunder - First Form or EX Special Attack: Binding Sunder - Final Form, the Bound effect spreads to all enemies hit by the skill. This spread Bound effect lasts for 10s.
M2 Dance of Fire Evelyn's ATK increases by 15%. When Evelyn uses Basic Attack: Garrote - First Form or Basic Attack: Garrote - Second Form, the Burning Embers consumed will be returned. This effect can trigger once every 25s. When Evelyn consumes Burning Tether Points to trigger Chain Attack: Lunalux - Snare, the skill's Interrupt Level increases.
M3 Metamorphosis Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2.
M4 Fate's Melody Upon activating a Chain Attack or Ultimate, Evelyn immediately gains a shield equal to 10% of her Max HP. While this shield exists, Evelyn's CRIT DMG increases by 40%.
M5 Crimson Threads Like the Dawn Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2.
M6 Bond of Light and Shadow When activating her Chain Attack or Ultimate, Evelyn gains Shadowstring Edge for 20s. During Shadowstring Edge, when Evelyn hits enemies with a Basic Attack, Dash Attack, Special Attack, or EX Special Attack, an additional Lunalux Garrote will be released for a follow-up attack, dealing Fire DMG equal to 375% of Evelyn's ATK. This DMG is considered Chain Attack DMG and can trigger up to 16 times. The number of triggers will be refreshed each time Shadowstring Edge is gained.

How to Play Evelyn

5.1.

General Overview of Evelyn's Gameplay

Evelyn focuses on using as many Chain Attacks and Ultimates as possible, in order to sustain her Buff States and Resources. In combat, Evelyn has four key objectives:

  • Building 50-100% Burning Embers for Enhanced Basic Attack: Garrote
  • Obtaining 3 Burning Tether Points for Chain Attack: Lunalux
  • Entering and Re-Entering Binding Seal State
  • Using Ultimate: Lunalux Garrote to Enter Dance of Awakened Fire State
5.2.

Burning Embers and Burning Tether Points

Whenever Evelyn is on the field, every Basic Attack or skill will accumulate Burning Embers. When Evelyn's Burning Embers Gauge reaches 50% or higher, she can activate her Enhanced Basic Attack, Garrote, by holding down or . Each Garrote use will consume 50% of the Gauge, giving Evelyn 1 Burning Tether Point. She can also obtain 1 Burning Tether Point for every Ultimate: Lunalux Garrote.

If Evelyn has enough Energy, holding down the will prioritize the EX Special over Enhanced Basic Attack, and will not expend the Burning Embers Gauge.

When Evelyn's Special or EX Special triggers a Perfect Dodge, Evelyn will obtain an additional 25% to her Burning Embers Gauge.

5.3.

Binding Seal State and Ambush Point

When Evelyn accumulates a maximum of 3 Burning Tether Points, her next Garrote will become a Chain Attack: Lunalux. Her Chain Attack, as well as any skill, will make Evelyn enter Binding Seal, which is a state that increases her CRIT Rate. You can exit Binding Seal by using Binding Sunder, which is her Special or EX Special. The CRIT Rate buff will then last for 10s, or refresh upon re-entering Binding Seal.

If Evelyn's CRIT Rate is above 80%, and her Additional Ability: Ambush Point is active, her Chain Attacks and Ultimates will deal 25% more damage. More information on CRIT Rate is noted in the Best-in-Slot section below.

You cannot enter or exit Binding Seal with Evelyn's Defensive Assist or Enhanced Basic Attack: Garrote, but you can enter with the 5th hit of Basic Attack: Razor Wire. The Basic Attack combo can be entered from the 3rd hit onwards by using Evelyn's Binding Sunder, allowing players to quickly exit and re-enter Binding Seal.

5.4.

Dance of Awakened Fire

After using Evelyn's Ultimate: Lunalux Garrote, she will not only obtain 1 Burning Tether Point, but also enter the Dance of Awakened Fire state, which permanently retains 1 Burning Tether Point after every Chain Attack. This effectively means, for the rest of combat, Evelyn will only need to collect 2 additional Burning Tether Points to trigger a Chain Attack.

Subsequent uses of Evelyn's Ultimate will not further reduce the cost for Burning Tether Points, as the Dance of Awakened Fire state will not stack with itself.

5.5.

Application in Evelyn's Gameplay

Essentially, Evelyn wants to enter her Buff States, Binding Seal and Dance of Awakened Fire, as soon and as frequently as possible. Ideally, both States are active when enemies are Stunned, as they will take more damage on top of Evelyn's personal buffs and squad bonuses.

To achieve the above, players should ideally start Evelyn's rotation with her Chain Attack, non-Defensive Assist, or Ultimate. Thanks to her Passive: Bind, Evelyn can quickly enter a Chain Attack after 3 uses of Garrote, or 2 if Dance of Awakened Fire is active.

This will look similar to the following gameplay loop, while using Garrote or Chain Attacks whenever available:

EX Special Attack > Basic Attack > Basic Attack > Basic Attack > EX Special Attack...

If Evelyn starts her rotation immediately with an Ultimate (such as thanks to her Mindscape Cinema 1: Dreamweave, other Agents' skills, or by accumulating enough Decibels), players may find it difficult to align her next Ultimate when enemies are Stunned. As Evelyn's Ultimate is important and will reduce the number of Garrote combos per combat, players should keep Evelyn's Ultimate timing in mind.

If Evelyn's Chain Attack will cause her to swap with another Agent, she will need to re-enter the field via a Quick Assist or Assist Follow-Up to start her rotation and Binding Seal again. If Evelyn's Ultimate was used already, she will retain the Dance of Awakened Fire after any swap until end of combat.

Evelyn's Best in Slot Guide

7.1.

Signature W-Engine: Heartstring Nocturne

Evelyn's Signature W-Engine, the Heartstring Nocturne, is one of the best build options for Eve to use. The W-Engine Effect, String & Melody, provides 50% CRIT DMG on top of Fire DMG bonuses for every swap, Chain Attack, or Ultimate Eve activates. As all 3 attack methods are core to Eve's gameplay, she will be able to utilize this W-Engine to its full effect. If players continue to refine the W-Engine, the W-Engine can provide up to an additional 80% CRIT DMG.

The W-Engine's main stat, CRIT Rate, will also help Eve activate her Additional Ability more easily, which will make Drive Disc building significantly easier. At W-Engine Lv.60 and Eve at Lv.1, she will have a base CRIT Rate of 29%, which allows players to focus on other beneficial stats when her CRIT Rate reaches above 80%. For more information, see the other Best-in-Slot sections.

7.2.

Other S-Rank W-Engines

If players want to use a different S-Rank W-Engine, ideally the only options would be either the Zanshin Herb Case or anything that gives decent CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. If the goal is to reach 100-160% or higher CRIT DMG (close to double of Eve's CRIT Rate, which should be 80% at most), players should use a W-Engine with an Advanced Stat of CRIT DMG, and an Effect that provides CRIT Rate.

The Zanshin Herb Case is most recommended after Heartstring Nocturne, as Eve can utilize the W-Engine Effect better than her other alternatives. At Lv.60, this W-Engine provides 48% CRIT DMG Advanced Stat; when refined, it can also provide anywhere from 10-16% guaranteed CRIT Rate, or 20-32% when in combat. The CRIT Rate bonus in combat also only applies occasionally, so players should not rely on it being a permanent effect.

The Riot Suppressor Mark VI is comparable to the Zanshin Herb Case, as it provides a higher guaranteed CRIT Rate of 15%. However, Eve cannot utilize the rest of the W-Engine's effect, as she cannot deal Ether DMG. In this case, the Zanshin Herb Case will have a higher effective CRIT Rate when in combat.

Players may also consider The Brimstone, but only if Eve has achieved a sufficient amount of CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG already. In addition, it is only comparable to other S-Rank W-Engines if Eve is able to sustain the full stacks from the W-Engine Effect. Otherwise, players should consider other alternatives.

7.3.

A-Rank and B-Rank Alternatives

Eve has a few A-Rank options she can choose from, that can provide decent CRIT Rate. However, none of them provide CRIT DMG as an Advanced Stat, and as such, are not as recommended compared to the S-Rank alternatives. Below is a brief overview of the alternatives Eve has:

  1. Marcato Desire: Not only does it have a CRIT Rate Advanced Stat, but it also increases ATK whenever an EX Special or Chain Attack hits. A solid recommendation over other A-Ranks, but not as good as Eve's S-Rank options.
  2. Cannon Rotor: Also has a CRIT Rate Advanced Stat, on top of 200% Additional DMG whenever a Critical Hit lands. This is only every 8s and is not specific to any skill though, so Eve may struggle to control how or when this effect works; this is reliant on timing Eve's switches properly.
  3. Street Superstar or other Attack Advanced Stat W-Engines: While ATK % is beneficial to Eve, this will cause Eve's damage ceiling to be lower, compared to building CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG. You may also find diminishing gains if you build too much ATK %.
7.4.

4-Piece Options

Realistically, Evelyn does not have a best 4-Piece Drive Disc set available yet. Most of the options are decent, but not tailored best for Eve's gameplay, as she focuses on both Chain Attacks and Ultimates. As such, keep the recommendations' complete effects below in mind:

  1. Hormone Punk: While this provides an ATK bonus upon switching in, this has a minimum downtime of 10s. In addition, this Drive Disc does not provide any CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG, so players may find it difficult to utilize this set well.
  2. Woodpecker Electro: This set provides a base 8% CRIT Rate, on top of ATK % bonuses when landing critical hits. However, it requires Eve to use different skills in order to stack the ATK buffs, which may be difficult for Eve's general gameplay.
  3. Inferno Metal: This set provides Fire DMG, which is always valued on Eve and other Fire Agents. However, the CRIT Rate bonus is only applied when enemies have the Burned effect, and Eve may not apply the Attribute Anomaly as fast as an Anomaly Agent can.
  4. Puffer Electro: Essentially, PEN and PEN Ratio will work well with any DPS-focused Agent; however, it is heavily dependent on the Agent having high Stats to deal high PEN DMG. The 4-Piece effect is also mostly focused on Ultimates, whereas Eve's damage is split with Chain Attacks too.
7.5.

2-Piece Options

Eve has more 2-Piece sets that are viable with her kit, and players should pick whichever they prefer more. For example, Branch & Blade Song provides CRIT DMG, which profits off Agents with high CRIT Rate (such as Eve). Or, if players have yet to reach the 80% CRIT Rate threshold with sub-stats, they can consider Woodpecker Electro for a free 8%.

Other alternatives, such as Puffer Electro, Hormone Punk, and Inferno Metal, should mostly be considered if players are farming the same Routine Clean-up for other Agents. While the 2-Piece set effects are beneficial for Eve, they do not have as significant of an impact on Eve's damage output.

7.6.

How Much CRIT Rate Does Evelyn Need?

At Evelyn's base stats, without any Promotions or Equipment, she starts off with 5% CRIT Rate minimum below Lv.20. In combat, her Core Passive: Entangle provides an additional CRIT Rate bonus whenever Eve enters Binding Seal. The Entangle bonus ranges from an additional 12.5-25% CRIT Rate, depending on Eve's Core Skill Enhancements.

She can further increase this stat up to 100%, but Eve can make use of her kit fully after reaching a minimum of 80% CRIT Rate. If Eve's CRIT Rate is 80% or higher, and her Additional Ability: Ambush Point is active, her Chain Attacks and Ultimates will have an additional 25% DMG increase.

If Eve's Core Skill is Lv.7 and she has an 80% Base CRIT Rate, the 25% CRIT Rate bonus will make her total CRIT Rate go beyond 100% in combat. As such, players should go no further than 80% Base CRIT Rate, and focus on beneficial stats for other parts of her build, such as Fire DMG, PEN Ratio, PEN, ATK%, and ATK.

Depending on players' goals or resources, how much CRIT Rate to build is contingent on Eve's Base Stats, as noted below:

Promotion Level Core Skill Enhancement Total Base CRIT Rate
Lv.20 (No Promotions) = 5% Lv.1 (No Enhancements) = 12.5%

No Binding Seal: 5%

In Binding Seal: 5% + 12.5% = 17.5%

Lv.60 (Highest Promotion) = 19.4% Lv.7 (Enhancement F) = 25%

No Binding Seal: 19.4%

In Binding Seal: 19.4% + 25% = 44.4%

As such, if players plan to build Eve to the maximum base stats available, and will only build her CRIT Rate to 80%, Eve will require an additional 35.6-60.6% CRIT Rate to utilize her Additional Ability. The amount is based on whether players want the 25% DMG increase to be active outside of the Binding Seal's duration. She can further increase her CRIT Rate from additional stats in her Equipment or Squad bonuses.

7.7.

Best-in-Slot Equipment Building

Assuming Evelyn is at the maximum base stats available, she can determine how much guaranteed stats she can get from her equipment, before relying on randomized sub-stats.

If Evelyn begins at 19.4% Base CRIT Rate, she will need at least another 60.6% to reach 80% CRIT Rate. Please Note: The following does not consider specific W-Engine or Drive Disc effects. Please refer to the other sections in the Best-In-Slot Guide for Effect Recommendations.

If Eve uses an S-Rank W-Engine with a Main Stat of CRIT Rate, she can obtain an additional 24% CRIT Rate at W-Engine Lv.60. This reduces the remaining amount to 36.6%. If using an A-Rank W-Engine instead, which only provides 20% maximum, Eve would need an additional 40.6%.

In regards to Eve's Drive Disc Main Stat options, it is only Drive Disc 4 which can obtain a CRIT Rate Main Stat. At S-Rank, the Main Stat can achieve a maximum of 24% CRIT Rate; if A-Rank, it will only go up to 16%.

However, any Drive Discs can have CRIT Rate as a sub-stat option, except for the Drive Disc 4 slot with a CRIT Rate main stat. There is no definitive amount of CRIT Rate players can achieve through sub-stats, as each sub-stat will begin and increase at randomized values. As such, it is recommended, for each applicable Drive Disc, to have a CRIT Rate+2 or higher (up to +5) sub-stat.

If players are unlucky with their randomized sub-stat bonus distribution, they should prioritize either a Disc 4 with a CRIT Rate Main Stat, or just having other beneficial sub-stats on the Drive Discs instead.

7.8.

Bangboo Information

Evelyn has a few Bangboo options for her squads, but the most preferred is the Stars Of Lyra Faction Bangboo SnapSnap. SnapSnap's Active Skill: Snap! Look at the Camera! can provide a DMG increase to the active Agent whenever they trigger a Dodge Counter, Quick Assist, or Assist Follow-Up. Though it has a long cooldown and requires the Bangboo to obtain Film, as long as Evelyn is the Agent that triggers this skill, she will always receive the DMG increase over other Agents in the squad. Please refer to the How to Play section for more information on Evelyn's playstyle.

If players would prefer a different Bangboo instead, some recommendations include SafetySafety (when paired with two Belobog Heavy Industries Agents), KnightbooKnightboo (with one Support Agent), or BooressureBooressure (with one Support Agent). These and other possible recommendations are contingent on what other Agents are in Eve's squad, and as such, players should refer to the next section for case examples.

8.

Evelyn Team Comps and Synergy

8.1.

Evelyn's Additional Ability

Whether players can form squads centered around Mono Fire DMG, or play Evelyn as a single DPS with 2 Support Agents, the primary idea is to activate her Additional Ability: Ambush Point.

When Eve's Additional Ability is active, thanks to either a Stun or Support Agent in her squad, she gains a guaranteed Chain Attack and Ultimate DMG increase of 30%. This further increases by another 25% if Eve has a CRIT Rate of 80%, which may be assisted by either having CRIT Rate on her Equipment, or an Agent who can provide CRIT Rate bonuses.

The following provides some examples centered around Evelyn's Additional Ability or CRIT Rate needs. Players should choose or compose a Squad Composition that best suits their account's resources and Agent availability.

8.2.

Evelyn Additional Ability Focus

On-Field DPS Stun Support Bangboo
Evelyn Chevalier Lighter Astra Yao Snap
Evelyn Chevalier Koleda Belobog Knightboo

A highly recommended example of creating a Squad around Evelyn's Additional Ability includes both Astra Yao and Lighter. The most important Agent, after Evelyn, is Astra Yao, as her Core Passive provides additional Chain Attack and Assist opportunities for Eve. Astra Yao also does not require a significant amount of on-field time to provide support, so she synergizes well with Evelyn's standard gameplay. She also enables Evelyn to use SnapSnap as a Bangboo option.

As for the next best Agent to pair with Evelyn, players can use Lighter, either with Astra Yao, a Fire Support or Defense Agent, or a Sons Of Calydon Agent. As a Stun Agent, he also fulfills Eve's Additional Ability condition, and provides significant Fire DMG increases whenever he is attacking on-field. While the two may struggle to share on-field time, Lighter will help stun enemies faster than other Agent Types. This allows Eve to have more opportunities to deal increased damage, thanks to enemies being stunned.

If players do not have the above Agents, they can also find suitable substitutes such as Koleda Belobog or Lucy. Playing with either or both Agents will open up Bangboo options that are focused on Fire DMG.

8.3.

Evelyn Mono Fire Teams

On-Field DPS Stun/Support Defense Bangboo
Evelyn Chevalier Caesar King Red Moccus
Evelyn Chevalier Koleda Belobog Ben Bigger Safety

If players want to make a Mono Fire squad instead, they can consider a few options listed above. As long as there is either a Stun or Support Agent in the squad, Evelyn's Additional Ability will stay active. If players want to use Defense Agents with Evelyn, it is recommended to use a compatible Stun or Support Agent.

For example, if players want to use Ben Bigger, they can use Lucy to increase the squad's overall ATK, or Lighter for an increased Daze rate and Fire DMG. Koleda Belobog is also very compatible, Koleda Belobog as a Stun Agent, increases Chain Attack DMG (thanks to her Additional Ability), and has a special attack when paired with Ben Bigger. If Ben Bigger is used in Evelyn's squad, the shield from his Core Passive provides a 16% CRIT Rate increase when active.

Alternatively, if players want to use Caesar King instead, they could use either Lucy or Lighter. All of these Agents are from the Sons Of Calydon Faction (which enables Red MoccusRed Moccus), two of them have the Fire attribute, and Caesar King's shield and Additional Ability both increase DMG dealt.

Evelyn is slightly compatible with Caesar King, as Eve has a Defensive Assist and will benefit from Caesar's defensive capabilities. However, as Caesar King does not share the same Attribute as Eve, players may be more reliant on Eve and the other Fire Agent to deal effective DMG against targets weak to Fire.

8.4.

Evelyn Double Support Teams

On-Field DPS Best Support Other Supports Bangboo
Evelyn Chevalier

If players go with a Double Support Squad instead, this gives more DMG potential to Evelyn and the rest of the squad, beyond just only one Support Agent's capabilities. As a result, this opens up many possibilities for who to add onto Eve's squad, both Agents and Bangboo.

For the best Support option currently available, it is highly recommended players pair Eve with Astra Yao. Not only are they both from the Stars Of Lyra Faction, but Astra Yao's gameplay is very compatible with what Evelyn wants from a Support Agent. This is because Astra Yao's skills provides both CRIT DMG buffs and more Chain Attack and Quick Assist opportunities for Evelyn.

As for the other Support recommendations, it depends on what players prefer. For example, they can go with Nicole Demara for the DEF reduction on enemies from her Core Passive, or Lucy and Soukaku for the ATK buffs.

However, of the options listed, Soukaku may feel the most awkward to pair with Evelyn, due to her kit mostly increasing either Ice DMG or only ATK. In addition, Soukaku requires some on-field time in order to set up Fly the Flag, so there may be some conflicts with Evelyn's rotation uptime.
