Core Passive: Searing Cold | When Hoshimi Miyabi deals FrostDMG, she applies Icefire to the target, lasting 30s. When accumulating FrostAnomalyBuildup against targets with Icefire, increases FrostAnomalyBuildupRate by 100% of Hoshimi Miyabi's CRIT Rate, up to a maximum increase of 80%. As Hoshimi Miyabi accumulates FrostAnomalyBuildup, it has its own independent Attribute Anomaly Buildup gauge and triggers Freeze, Shatter, and Frostbite that can react with other Attribute Anomalies, including IceAttributeAnomaly, to trigger Disorder. When Hoshimi Miyabi applies Frostbite to enemies with Icefire, it will consume the Icefire to trigger Frostburn - Break, dealing FrostDMG equal to 750% (Lv.1) of Hoshimi Miyabi's ATK and causing the target to enter the Frostburn state. All squad members accumulate 14% (Lv.1) more Anomaly Buildup against enemies under the Frostburn state, but Hoshimi Miyabi cannot reapply Icefire to these enemies. The Frostburn state ends when Frostbite expires. While this state remains active, triggering another Attribute Anomaly will overwrite Frostbite and remove Frostburn. Upon triggering Frostburn - Break, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains 1 point of Fallen Frost. This effect can trigger once every 10s. |
Additional Ability: Bask in Frost | When another character in your squad is a Support character or shares the same Faction: Basic Attack: Shimotsuki DMG increases by 60%. When any squad member triggers Disorder, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains 2 points of Fallen Frost and Basic Attack: Shimotsuki during the next Shimotsuki Stance will ignore 30% of the target's IceRES. |
Hoshimi Miyabi's Best Mindscapes
Hoshimi Miyabi follows a similar model that we've seen in other Hoyoverse games over the past years, with her second and sixth copies being major damage gains, while her M1 provides a noticeable but smaller gain than her signature weapon would.
Because of how much damage Miyabi already does, even a 10-15% damage gain on M1 is more damage than other characters would gain from a 30% gain from their M2. She does not need her Mindscapes to work and deal almost ridiculous amounts of damage, so getting any of her Mindscapes will only be noticeable once future content becomes significantly more difficult.
# | Mindscape | Description |
---|---|---|
M1 | Frost Atop the Snow | While in Shimotsuki Stance, every 1 point of Fallen Frost consumed will allow Basic Attack: Shimotsuki to ignore 6% of DEF, stacking up to 6 times and lasting until Shimotsuki Stance ends. When the slash for charge level three of Basic Attack: Shimotsuki hits an enemy under Frostburn, it will immediately remove the Frostburn state and increase all squad members' Anomaly Buildup Rate by 20% for 10s. |
M2 | Breath Technique | Basic Attack: Kazahana and Dodge Counter DMG increases by 30%. Hoshimi Miyabi gains 1 point of Fallen Frost when the final move of the 5th hit of Basic Attack: Kazahana hits an enemy. Upon entering the battlefield, Hoshimi Miyabi immediately obtains 6 points of Fallen Frost and her CRIT Rate increases by 15%. |
M3 | Martial Discipline | Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2 |
M4 | Rupture | Frostburn - Break DMG increases by 30%. Upon triggering Frostburn - Break, Hoshimi Miyabi generates 250 more Decibels. |
M5 | Anniversary | Basic Attack, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2. |
M6 | Prodigious Talent | During Shimotsuki Stance, Hoshimi Miyabi obtains Polar, which increases Basic Attack: Shimotsuki DMG by 30%. After obtaining Polar, Hoshimi Miyabi will automatically draw her blade and unleash powerful slashes based on the current charge level upon consuming Fallen Frost. Before Fallen Frost is completely depleted, the draw and slashes will not interrupt charging under Shimotsuki Stance. Each occurrence of Shimotsuki Stance can perform up to 3 draws and slashes. |

How to Play Hoshimi Miyabi
Hoshimi Miyabi is an Ice Anomaly Character with a unique Anomaly Debuff, who largely deals damage like an Attacker would instead -- she wants CRIT DMG and CRIT Rate as well, unlike most other Anomaly Characters. Most of her abilities deal FrostDMG instead of Ice DMG, and she builds up a different Anomaly as a result. This Anomaly interacts with others in the same way as other Anomalies, and can even trigger disorder with Ice Anomaly itself. However, her Anomaly lasts much longer than others, and thus her final DMG output of Disorder triggers with her Anomaly deal massive amounts of DMG.
Most of her kit works around the buildup and spending of Fallen Frost. You will want to build up stacks of Fallen Frost, then consume them by holding . For each 2 Fallen Frost, one hit of her Basic Attack will be Enhanced, and you will want to build up to 6 stacks before consuming them.
You will eventually trigger Frostburn - Break, which will deal massive amounts of damage by itself. This hit is not an Anomaly and scales with CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG. Once targets have been broken in this way, they will receive an Anomaly called Frostburn, which is the Anomaly you will want to remove by triggering Disorder with another character for another burst of damage.
Once Frostburn has been removed by a Disorder trigger, you will want to swap back to Miyabi to start the process from scratch. Ideally you further buff her stats or debuff enemies prior to these 2 massive bursts of damage through your remaining team member, or delay the trigger of the Anomaly effects until a Stun damage multiplier window has begun. That being said, her DMG output is so incredibly high, that you may end up killing enemies before the first Stun even happens.

Hoshimi Miyabi's best W-Engine is her signature weapon, and the second best option is not even close. Her W-Engine is the first one to provide more stats than any other S-Rank Engine, and it is a massive power increase for her compared to every single F2P option. If there is a character to pull her signature weapon on, Miyabi is the one. All the other listed options perform within 10-20% of one another, while her signature is a whopping 30-40% better than any of them.
Her best Drive Disc set is a combination of 4-piece Branch & Blade Song, and 2-piece Woodpecker Electro. If you end up overcapping on CRIT Rate with Woodpecker, you can switch this to a 2-piece Polar Metal instead. 4-piece Hormone Punk can work, and in theoretical calculations performs better than Branch & Blade Song, but it requires ridiculous Drive Discs to still reach high amounts of CRIT Rate and CRIT Value, and is not recommended.
Bangboo Information
Since getting more Energy means more Fallen Frost stacks, Butler or Knightboo work well with her. You can also use any other Bangboo that helps with Anomaly buildup of the teammates you use to trigger Disorder, like Plugboo or the Section 6's Agent Gulliver for Tsukishiro Yanagi, or Rocketboo with Burnice White.

Hoshimi Miyabi | Lighter | Lucy | |
Hoshimi Miyabi | Von Lycaon | Soukaku | Butler |

As Yanagi's Additional Ability is not faction-exclusive, she can enable it by using an Electric Agent such as either Seth Lowell or Alexandrina Sebastiane. While there are other considerations, such as Grace Howard or Anton Ivanov, these Agents will not be that compatible with Yanagi, due to struggles with on-field time and providing no additional bonuses to each other.
In addition to the above, Grace Howard is not a very compatible Agent despite being Anomaly, as Yanagi will not receive any Disorder benefits from Grace Howard. If players are using Timeweaver, Yanagi will only benefit from half of the W-Engine's effect, as there will be no other Anomaly Attributes. Overall, this lowers the damage potential from both Agents, as Grace Howard will not get the support she needs from Yanagi either.
Of the Agents recommended, Caesar King, Lucy, and Koleda Belobog can all allow Yanagi to activate Disorders on targets. However, keep in mind that in a Single DPS composition, the Anomaly DMG overall will be less than having a secondary Anomaly, as the DMG will only be based on Yanagi's substats and any additional given buffs.
If players do not have access to these Agents, they may consider alternatives such as Von Lycaon, Soukaku (in an Ice based composition), or Ben Bigger. Yanagi has a good number of options to pick from, as her kit allows for squads with multiple Attributes, not just Mono-Electric. Players should go with whoever is well-invested until they can use a Disorder-focus squad for Yanagi to shine in.
