Conquer Season 5 with the Best Class Guides and Build Tier Lists!


<p>The PTR (Public Test Realm) kicked off last week, and players are now sharing their thoughts on the endgame and system changes Blizzard announced during the recent Campfire Chat. While there are some exciting improvements, the community also raises serious concerns about gear, difficulty scaling, and overall progression.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Positives: Smoother Gameplay and Quality of Life</h2>

<p>Players appreciate that the game feels less punishing, even though it has not become easier. The update makes Diablo 4&#8217;s pace more welcoming, and <strong>leveling</strong> feels smoother in that regard. <em><a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1fdbv5r/yet_another_ptr_20_feedback_post/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">CyberTarekOnReddit</a></em> pointed out that many players are now leveling through more diverse activities such as running strongholds and whispers, which were previously pretty much ignored while leveling.</p>



<p><strong>The Pit and Nightmare Dungeons</strong> updates give both activities real purpose, and the changes to the <strong>Paragon </strong>system and glyphs provide solid power scaling. Most of us agree that the revamped Paragon UI is more intuitive and easier to navigate. The <strong><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/impactful-skill-tree-update-on-ptr-new-way-to-reach-passives/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Skill Tree overhaul</a></strong> also offers more ways to choose your passives, and players are enjoying the adjustments made to ultimate skills.</p>



<p>Blizzard also introduced some highly requested <strong>Quality-of-Life </strong>features. You can now set a favorite town portal, access the wardrobe from anywhere, use a new Party Finder, and find useful new inventory tabs. On top of that, there are fun customization options like added pigments for transmogs, new hairstyles, and more!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Negatives: Gear and Itemization Issues</h2>

<p>However, players are experiencing <strong>significant issues with gear</strong>. Many report that item power has dropped across the board, and valuable gear drops are scarce, even after reaching Level 60. <strong>Ancestral Legendaries</strong> are especially rare, and when they do drop, they often are not useful. <em><a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1fbk0vo/my_thoughts_on_diablo_4_20_ptr_after_clearing_a/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Diggitydave76</a></em> noted on Reddit that the current drop rates feel off, with Mythic Uniques being easier to obtain than valuable Ancestral Legendaries. The itemization system, which Blizzard had fine-tuned during Seasons 4 and 5, now feels disrupted. </p>



<p><strong>Gameplay slows noticeably in higher difficulties</strong>. Torment 3 already feels sluggish, and players worry that Torment 4 might be out of reach without perfect gear. But with the current drop rates, getting that gear is extremely difficult.</p>



<p>The <strong>restriction on Tempering</strong> (only 1 temper) <strong>and Masterworking</strong> (only to rank 4) items with item power under 800 also slows progression, preventing you from reaching harder content. <strong>Runewords</strong>, a feature that the community had very high hopes for, feels like a missed opportunity. <em><a href="https://discord.com/channels/989899054815281243/1283003276052135977/1283003276052135977" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">DaBrownBull</a></em> shared on Discord that Runes are disappointing in terms of the lack of creativity. Runewords should have been a way to introduce more effects or fun interactions rather than just more damage.</p>



<p>Last but not least, players find <strong>grinding Paragon points</strong> to be a longer, more tedious process now that they are account-wide. <em><a href="https://discord.com/channels/989899054815281243/1281468126445310032/1281469422829310108" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Ignition</a></em> remarked on Discord that the system feels slow and unrewarding, suggesting that playing in higher Torment should be made more beneficial.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Feedback Highlights Gearing Concerns</h2>



<p>The overall feedback from the PTR has been underwhelming. While most of us welcome the many quality-of-life improvements and skill tree changes, the new difficulty system and gear issues are causing frustration. Itemization, which had reached a sweet spot in Seasons 4 and 5, now feels slower and less rewarding. Although players are looking forward to Vessel of Hatred, the new Spiritborn class, and campaign content, many feel less motivated to grind through the endgame for future seasons.</p>


More Player Feedback on PTR Endgame Changes and System Overhauls


<p>The latest PTR (Public Test Realm) introduced some exciting changes to the Skill Tree, revealing new ways to obtain passives!</p>



<p>In Diablo 4, passive points used to be separate from normal skills, often forcing you to invest in unnecessary passives just to unlock the ones you wanted. With this Skill Tree update, you can now access some passive points directly through connected skills! And the best part? <strong>This change applies to every class</strong>.</p>



<p>Take <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/rogue/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Rogue</a>, for example &#8211; if you are running a Twisting Blades build and want to grab the <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Siphoning Strikes" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Talents_Rogue_32.webp" alt="Siphoning Strikes"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Siphoning Strikes</span></span></a> passive, you can now access it directly after putting a point into Twisting Blades. No more unnecessary point-spending!</p>

<p>The update also improves <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/sorcerer/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Sorceress</a>&#8216; skill tree, giving each elemental path easier access to nearby passive points. Previously, these were hidden at the back of the tree.</p>

<p>These adjustments make the Skill Tree much more flexible, allowing you to easily allocate points through various ways and possibilities. With direct access to passives through skills, you will be able to save a few skill points, which you can then invest in one of the new Ultimate upgrades or other must-have passives!</p>


Impactful Skill Tree Update on PTR – New Way to Reach Passives!


<p>Numbers, then. The Diablo franchise has pretty much always been about numbers. Even more so than Black Ops 1. Their extreme individual size has been a topic of conversation for a long time, ever since Diablo 3 reached into the billions. But that&#8217;s not what we&#8217;re talking about today. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do You Want To See Your Damage Numbers or the Actual Game? </h2>



<p>Big numbers are just big, but many numbers are&#8230; problematic to say the least. As <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/LeeLucRengZedLeBFiEz/">LeeLucRengZedLeBFiEz</a> pointed out in their reddit thread, once you reach a certain number of individual damage sources, it really does become a choice of knowing how much damage you&#8217;re doing and actually being able to play the game. </p>

<p>Now, we all know we can, in fact, turn off damage numbers in the options. But seeing our damage improve in battle is a major part of the Diablo experience. So we get to a conundrum.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Multiplier Effect</h2>



<p>You can see the &#8220;multiplier effect&#8221; mentioned in the thread, but that&#8217;s something different from the screen clutter we see. Basically, D4 boils down to mega-charging one skill with as many multipliers as you can. From Aspects to Uniques, support skills and so on, just focusing on one big damage skill is the way to go for the vast majority of builds. This isn&#8217;t necessarily a problem, and most ARPGs come down to this, but it does bother some people that we can&#8217;t have multiple damaging abilities. What it does mean is that the majority of the masses of numbers you see above are basically useless. If you add them all up they don&#8217;t come close to that single giant super-charged skill use, and they&#8217;re literally just clutter. </p>



<p>So, what do you think about the masses of damage numbers some specs clutter their screens with? Should this be addressed and the numbers added up? Or is there another solution?</p>


Are Diablo 4’s Many, MANY Damage Numbers Becoming a Visual Problem?


<p>The patch 2.0 Public Test Realm is full of details about the new patch (and some hilarious bugs). But one of the not-so-high-profile changes is definitely the character selection screen. The old Diablo 2-reminiscent campfire has been replaced by a new and more sleek animated version. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Old (aka the Current)</h2>



<p>Players logging into the PTR will be greeted with a much more active character creation screen. Before aka currently on live servers we had/have a nice and cozy campfire for the classes to sit around and we would then choose from. These also have short animations when hovered over and have separate buttons to see some info about each class. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The New</h2>



<p>The 2.0 PTR screen favors a more mechanical UI feel, as we can select class icons instead and get some very flashy animations of each. </p>

<p>As you can see a lot more information is presented on the screen, and each class has a bigger individual focus with the entire screen to themselves. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why the Change?</h2>



<p>This may not just be a style-based change after all. With Spiritborn arriving with the expansion, the total of selectable classes is now 6. The campfire may have been deemed a little crowded. Perhaps not now, but as more classes get added in the future, each class would have gotten less and less space there. The new screens also give a lot more information about each class upfront and showcase them a lot better visually. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Good Change or Bad Change?</h2>



<p>The community seems to be split here. Some players really liked the campfire, whether for its link to Diablo 2, or just in general. And it certainly is a lot more cozy! However, the new screens are full of class identity and are very flashy, which is rarely a bad thing. </p>



<p>In the end, the change is probably a good thing for new players, as they get to know a lot more about the class and its overall feel, while older players may end up missing the warmth of the fire. What do you think? Good or bad?</p>


The Campfire Is Gone: Diablo 4 2.0 Has a New Character Creation Screen


<p>The Public Test Realm really is a great place. A lot of the bugs get worked out and players get to see new features earl. But one of the special bonuses of the PTR is definitely seeing the more wild and hilarious bugs that wouldn&#8217;t normally sneak past to the live game! And this is CERTAINLY one of those. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Everything AND the Kitchen Sink</h2>



<p>It seems our characters in the Vessel of Hatred may have lost a whole lot of intelligence points. So many, in fact, that they forgot which piece of gear goes where. Something must&#8217;ve messed with the game so that it forgot which type of gear goes into which visual slot, causing some hilarious pandemonium.</p>

<p>You&#8217;d be forgiven for thinking that this is just some very cool new quest where players haul equipment around for a merchant or somesuch. Or perhaps it&#8217;s a new type of VERY Unique weapon? That&#8217;s not the case, however, as there are plenty more examples of this, and significantly weirder ones too! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Does This Giant Head Make Me Look Fat?</h2>



<p>This particular bug seems to be very inclusive. When we say any cosmetic can be affected, it really does mean <em><strong>any</strong></em>. It&#8217;s hard to explain what exactly happened below, so it&#8217;s better just to show you:</p>

<p>That&#8217;s right, it&#8217;s Lord Zir&#8217;s head itself! The mount trophy would actually make a great back-piece, although it may be sliiightly impractical! </p>



<p>And then there&#8217;s the ultimate power-play when it comes to fashion accessories, the Ashava&#8217;s Horn on the back!  </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Is This Happening?</h2>



<p>One of the potential culprits here is the fact that players now <em>are </em>the wardrobe that can currently be found in the game&#8217;s inns. We can <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/you-no-longer-have-to-visit-the-wardrobe-to-change-your-appearance/">change our appearance anywhere</a>, as the option is now part of the basic character menu. This is likely what is causing the bug. </p>



<p>But whatever the reason is, it&#8217;s awesome! And it really is one of the more fun parts of the PTR, seeing more outlandish bugs like that. What&#8217;s the weirdest thing you&#8217;ve ever seen on a PTR-like test of a game?</p>


Hit Them With Your Pants: Mount Trophies as Player Armor, Gloves as Capes and Pants as Weapons!


<p>It seems no matter how high Blizzard set the materials cap, some players will always need bigger coffers! </p>



<p>We&#8217;ve seen the materials caps rise a few times in Diablo 4, with the latest reaching just shy of one million for gem fragments. Well, it seems the next increase will have to be 9 million, as plenty of players have already collected the maximum amount! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Fragment Hoarders</h2>



<p>Season 5 is only a little over a month old and plenty of players are reporting being capped out on the 999,999 shard for specific gems (or even all of them). This isn&#8217;t exactly a problem, but it&#8217;s always annoying seeing so many items on the ground. And since there&#8217;s no loot filter, it can get pretty messy pretty fast. This particular mass-fragment issue started with Season 5c, as the culprit for the gem-madness is Infernal Hordes! There&#8217;s a whole bunch of fragments coming from the materials chests, so players are very gem-rich. </p>



<p>The other issue is that you can&#8217;t really get rid of them without spending a whole lot of gold. Crafting gems isn&#8217;t cheap and so <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/toxicredditanon/">toxicredditanon</a> was wondering just what to do with the fragments! </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A (Not Perfect) Solution</h2>



<p>It seems there isn&#8217;t a great solution but, as always, the community did come up with at least one solid alternative. One cheaper solution (at least gold-wise) is to craft a whole bunch of <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Consumables_31.webp" alt="Chorus of War"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Incense" data-item-quality="magic">Chorus of War</span></span></a>. It costs 200 fragments, but you&#8217;ll also need a solid amount of Angelbreath, Veiled Crystals and Bundled Herbs. But with all those fragments at least you&#8217;ll be getting a pretty much permanent +40 all stats and some crit and overpower damage! </p>



<p>The alternative is, of course, to just craft some gems. It&#8217;s pretty expensive, so you&#8217;ll maybe need to open some gold chests in Hordes as well! And perhaps you can sell some of the gems to newer players, or those that didn&#8217;t go quite as Hordes crazy. </p>



<p><br>So, what do you think our next materials cap is going to be (whenever it&#8217;s raised)? 9 million? 99? Or 666,000,000,000?</p>

New Mythic Uniques Coming in Vessel of Hatred


<p>Blizzard has updated the Patch 2.0 known issues list today with a new entry tied to the XOL Rune.</p>



<p>The XOL Rune currently says you can &#8220;Evoke power from another class&#8221;, but in a future update, this Rune will clearly state it only lets you evoke specific skills from another class, not Legendary Aspects.</p>

<p><strong>Players should not engage with infernal Hordes at this time, as it will soft lock your client</strong></p>
<p>CLASSES</p>
<p>BARB</p>
<ul>
<li>Paragon Glyph: The increase of the Legendary Power of the Barbarian Glyph “Revenge” is stated as an increase in percent.</li>
<li>Barbarian – Hemorrhage Legendary Paragon Node: The current bonus from the node does not match the formula in the tooltip</li>
<li>Barbarian &#8211; Charge: Killing Animus Holders by Barbarian’s skill Charge makes the Anima to drop over walls.</li>
</ul>
<p>DRUID</p>
<ul>
<li>Shred 4th attack can still be cast after un-equipping the item.</li>
<li>The starter glyphs that Druid receives do not scale with Willpower. This is not in line with the other classes.</li>
<li>Prime Grizzly Rage upgrade does not provide the “Unstoppable” bonus to the character when activating Grizzly Rage.</li>
<li>Tempers that extend Lacerate duration may cause the character to be immobile for a second after gaining stealth…</li>
<li>The Affix of Mad Wolf’s Glee adds 2 levels to all Werewolf skills when the tooltip shows 3.</li>
<li>Wolves: +X% Storm/ Nature Magic damage is not applied when equipped with “Storm’s Companion” unique pants while using the wolves companion skill.</li>
<li>Some Druid Unique staffs may have tooltip inconsistencies.</li>
<li>Nature’s Fury never triggers Hurricane when casting Boulder when using Metamorphic Stone Aspect.</li>
<li>“Fierce Maul” skill upgrade does not stack with Maul Size item affixes.</li>
<li>Obsidian Slam: The overpower buff can be consumed by non-damaging abilities.</li>
<li>Players can move while channeling Lacerate by holding left click down.</li>
<li>Lupine Ferocity : Buff icon still shows old hit requirement of 6 instead of 3.</li>
</ul>
<p>NECRO</p>
<ul>
<li>The Unmaker: zone transfers do not carry over buff effects</li>
<li>Paragon Hulking Monstrosity Board &#8211; Additional bonus for Dexterity Glyphs are unobtainable on the Hulking Monstrosity board at Glyph Level 15
<ul>
<li>This affects similar boards such as Sorc’s Frigid Fate</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Several Necro abilities are not matching tooltips due to a merge conflict
<ul>
<li>Reap, Hemorrhage, Bone Splinters, Blight, Corpse Tendrils</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Changing the Golem upgrade before it respawns and entering, generates an error that prevents the Golem from respawning</li>
<li>Sever paired with Greaves of the Empty Tomb do not generate extra Desecrated Ground on the altered skill</li>
<li>Wither’s damage bonus is not capped at 1200 Intelligence</li>
<li>Blood Moon Breeches can lead to the player getting cursed by their own minions.</li>
<li>Stacking for Shadow Blight is inconsistent when Sever is paired with Desecrated Ground</li>
<li>When the Bone Golem leaps it delays the corpse shedding upon landing.</li>
<li>With Abhorrent Decrepify only Reaper Army can trigger the CD reduction but not by other minions</li>
<li>Chance to Cast Bone Splinters twice tempered affix when used with Tragoul’s Bone Prison overlaps the missiles</li>
<li>Blood Mist only damage the first three seconds, even if the duration is increased.</li>
<li>Minions inconsistently inherit the Necromancer’s damage multipliers</li>
<li>Unyielding Commander’s tooltip does not display its effect as multiplicative.</li>

<li>Dance of Knives is unable to be cast after repeatedly tapping the skill until charges run out and return</li>
<li>Advanced Penetrating Shot can lead to Goatman Brutes being knocked down twice</li>
<li>Dash to target while using the Improved Flurry upgrade may not work</li>

<p>SORC</p>
<ul>
<li>Vyr’s Mastery Key Passive is stacking a massive amount of multiplicative damage bonuses to one shot bosses</li>
<li>Enlightenment/Familiar: Familiar is always considered a fire skill for granting stacks of Enlightenment</li>
<li>Waves Shock charge persist after removing the legendary affix, Charged Flash.</li>
<li>Familiar skill is not affected by the Shocking Impact passive.</li>
<li>The VFX for the cast of the Familiar skill can disappear completely or be invisible upon using the skill for the first time after using other skills</li>
<li>Hydra, Ice Blades, and Familiar are behaving inconsistently with various Lucky Hit affixes.</li>
<li>Extra Incinerate beams are not affected by Incinerate Size increase affixes</li>
<li>The crit bonus from Elementalist is not applying to the Meteor skill when the character is using the Starfall Coronet.</li>
</ul>
<p>We updated attributes (the 4 main character stats as well as + Max Life) to uniques, but their tooltips won’t be updated for PTR. This means you will see something on a tooltip but behind the scenes it will perform differently. In general, the server values will be a bit lower than what is dispalyed on the tooltip.</p>

<li><span style="color: #ffff00;">The Xol rune currently says that you can “Evoke power from another class” &#8211; This has been clarified in a fix not in the PTR to specify a skill so this does not include Legendary Aspects from another class.</span></li>
<li>The Feo Rune cooldown time is 15 seconds instead of 20</li>
<li>Zec Rune in combination with Zan do not work on some Ultimate skills.</li>
<li>Monsters slayed by the playable character’s summons/pets do not count towards the runic power progress</li>
<li>Jeweler &#8211; Rune Crafting is gated behind Level and Torment levels.</li>
</ul>
<p>MISCELLANEOUS</p>
<ul>
<li>The torment tiers quest keeps starting</li>
<li>Players cannot complete class mechanic quests using the PTR cheat vendor if the quest is already in progress.</li>
<li>Shattered Vow &#8211; Weapon from PTR cache is displaying PH icon.</li>
<li>Blood Harvest counter UI icons appears when a player leaves or enters a party</li>
<li>The priority quest Eyes of the Enemy is pushed to the player on Expert.</li>
<li>Several stash edit icons options have no images.</li>
<li>By Three They Come: The quest can get stuck after killing all the enemies</li>
<li>Chests Overlapping in NMD can cause issues with interactions at the end of the dungeon.</li>
<li>Final PTR Number Tuning Changes
<ul>
<li>All items that migrate over from S5 (now considered legacy) will maxroll their affixes, except legendary and tempering.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Quest XP Tiers only reduce XP scalar until level 60 then use Level 1 Quest Reward Scalar for Paragon levels.</li>
<li>Players are not receiving XP or Gold quest rewards for completing some Local Events.</li>
<li>Whisper Caches drop gear of lower item power level than expected for your level.</li>
<li>Player can Create a Seasonal Character</li>
<li>Player character still should not be able to get in with a seasonal character though</li>
<li>Heir of Perdition’s Bonus to Angels and Demons is multiplicative instead of additive.</li>
<li>Capped armor isn’t highlighted in green</li>
<li>Effects that grant unlimited resource, Mjölnic Ryng, Inner Sight, etc do not work with effects that track resource spent like Ancestral Guidance or Banished Lord’s Talisman</li>
<li>The barrier generated by Temerity is inconsistent</li>
<li>Blood Boiling: Skills can overpower in every 20 sec is not functioning in The Pit.</li>
<li>There are several Legendary Affix values that were squished more than expected in the updated Progression changes.</li>
<li>Some Tempering Recipes have 5 affixes they can roll at random still. This will be updated before launch.</li>
<li>Players should not engage with Infernal Hordes as it will lead to a soft lock on your client.</li>
<li>Gambling vendors will often fail to give the player any items.</li>
<li>Nightmare dungeons do not have the proper XP reward set up also player characters will not receive gold upon NMD completion.</li>
<li>Rewards for Scosglen are inconsistent past level 25 when player unlocks the Tier 2</li>
<li>Player can pick up Masterworking materials at level 50.</li>
<li>The Tempering tab is automatically unlocked at Lv. 1.</li>
<li>Elemental Surge Recipes are gated behind Expert difficulty.</li>
<li>The additional passive bonuses gained from several Glyphs do not appear in your character details while in Town.</li>
<li>Some required amounts for Boss Summoning Items and amounts displayed in tooltips do not match.</li>
<li>Paragon exp not granting from Whisper turn in.</li>
<li>The Legendary Bonus gained from equipping Legendary Glyphs shows a missing label error in the tooltip summary.</li>
<li>Damage Shields are not scaling properly on monsters with the new Progression changes.
<ul>
<li>Monsters that gain barriers/shields may have significantly more HP shield than expected</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Gems crafting menu shows a lock icon on gems that previously had a level requirement when interacting with any Jeweler.</li>
<li>Nightmare Sigil drops from Nightmare Dungeon with Reduced Cooldown on Kill affix displays a missing string.</li>
<li>Awarded XP from Renown is not scaling up properly to the player’s conditions when claiming Renown Rewards in Season 6.</li>
<li>Items granted via March of the Goblin caches are not versioned to level 50/520 ipower when migrating to season 6.

<li>Alchemist: Incense crafting menu displays a lock icon on incenses that had a level requirement before the progression changes.</li>

<li>A pop-up banner appears with Tier number from world difficulty after activating a keyed dungeon

Runes and the Boost NPC Enabled on the Patch 2.0 PTR


<p>The patch 2.0 PTR has been up for a while and players got a feel for how things might look. One of the major and popular pieces of feedback is related to the new difficulty levels. Specifically, the limitation on when you can unlock them and just how hard they really are. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Penitent Lock</h2>



<p>The new difficulty system separates two different tiers of difficulty. The first is meant for leveling and is comprised of Normal, Hard, Expert and Penitent. The first problem being discussed here is the final difficulty of this leveling section being locked to level 50 characters. Expert is also locked at the start, but only requires finishing the prologue, so it&#8217;s much less of an issue. </p>



<p>Diablo as a franchise in general has always had a problem with being too easy at the start. In the older installments, you would have to clear an entire difficulty level in order to progress to the next one. Diablo 4 currently has the World Tier system, which instead offers Capstone dungeons as gates for progressing to the next difficulty. </p>



<p>This seems to be working out well enough, but the new system once again limits players in their choices. The general consensus seems to be that all difficulties should have some sort of challenge or gear gate, instead of an artificial level one. At the very least, the Penitent leveling difficulty should not be level-gated. </p>

<p>However, it&#8217;s not just Penitent facing this issue. The second tier of difficulties, Torment, also have a level lock. The first Torment difficulty requires level 60. This grants access to the Pit, and then clearing Pit level 20 unlocks Torment 1. Later Torments simply require a higher Pit level to unlock. </p>

<p>And so once again, regardless of your build or skill, you will not be able to access Penitent until level 50 and any Torment until level 60. This really seems like a downgrade from the current Capstone system, and hopefully Blizzard will look into it. </p>



<p>Some of these decisions may be based on the idea of other players boosting lower-level characters into Penitent or later Torment. <mark>However, that&#8217;s been a thing since the game released, and Blizzard haven&#8217;t really curtailed it much.</mark></p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Potentially Larger Issue</h2>



<p>A secondary and less prevalent opinion is the issue of difficulty in general. This refers to Torment 4, and how easy it currently is. Some players were expecting a real challenge out of T4, the currently highest difficulty available, but are not finding the difficulty there. Now, it&#8217;s worth noting that these are mostly very well geared Season 5 characters. They do have a much lower item level (525) but also have some very powerful builds with all the components available.</p>



<p>And so it becomes are more philosophical discussion of what the role of the highest open world difficulty of the game should be. Should non-optimized top specs even be able to touch it? Should it just be a middle-ground for solid specs to play in, leaving the top ones to just faceroll it easily? After all, there is still additional difficulty to be had in the Tormented Bosses, seasonal activities and more. </p>
