BiS Gear for Destruction Warlock
The War Within Season 3 Overall BiS List for Destruction Warlock
The following list contains the Best in Slot Gear for Destruction Warlock in The War Within Season 3 from all sources, including Raiding, Mythic+, Delves, The Great Vault, and Crafted.
Note that there is no such thing as a singular, all-encompassing "BiS". The best items vary per character and situation, and many items are essentially equivalent in terms of DPS, namely when we are just shuffling secondary stats around. I will list one "BiS" item per slot, but ultimately, BiS lists are not very practically useful and you should be simming your character to find out what gear to equip next. Nonetheless, there is a huge demand for this list, and thus, you can use the list below as a guideline as to what an endgame set of gear looks like.

Best Trinkets for Destruction Warlock in The War Within Season 3
Raiding Trinket Tier List for Destruction Warlock
This Trinket Tier List is biased towards single-target, as this tends to be the more relevant aspect of Raiding. In the case of Trinkets performing similarly in single-target, the option with AoE/Multitarget scaling will be ranked higher.
A "Tier" as defined by this list is around 0.5% DPS, meaning that S-Tier Trinkets are around 0.5% better than A-Tier Trinkets, and so on.
Any trinket not shown on this list is generally considered worse than all other trinkets available on this list.
S-Tier
Azhiccaran Parapodia
Astral Antenna
A-Tier
Diamantine Voidcore
Ara-Kara Sacbrood
Empowering Crystal of Anub'ikkaj

Mythic+ Trinket Tier List for Destruction Warlock
This Trinket Tier List is focused more on AoE damage, as a large portion of Mythic+ is AoE damage.

Reshii Wraps
In Season 3 players will be introduced to a new legendary
item, Reshii Wraps initially from the main questline.
This cloak comes with a special effect specific to roles and can be
customised by inserting Fibers which can determine the secondary stat bonus
associated.
Being a legendary unique item from the patch this cloak will increase in power over time, and there are be several avenues in which to scale its power up:
- Weekly drops which can raise the item level up to 730 (with a catchup system in place);
Interloper's Silken Striders and
Band of the Shattered Soul dropping in the Manaforge Omega raid;
- Reaching Renown 6 with the Manaforge Vandals increase the amount of secondary stats the cloak gives while inside the Manaforge Omega raid.
For Warlocks Versatility is the most convenient Fiber to pick, by being generally helpful both offensively and defensively, and being a stat not focused in the general gearing strategy.

below.
Durable Information Securing Container for Destruction Warlock
Patch 11.1.7 introduced Overcharged Delves and a questline that
culminates in the acquisition of a new belt, Durable Information Securing Container designed to be the
Best in Slot until later in Season 3.
For more information on how to acquire or upgrade the belt, make sure to check out our dedicated Overcharged Delves guide!
Durable Information Securing Container features a base item level at 684 that can be upgraded on a
weekly basis until 701 (presumably with a catch-up mechanic), and a special
socket that holds 1 of 9 special gems freely swappable outside of
combat.
The following bonuses yields the higher overall dps:
- Raid or Single
target:
Static Charge,
Spark Burst and
Critical Chain have similar dps in pure single target;
- Mythic+:
Static Charge
Crafted Gear & Embellishments
Spark of Omens will remain the main limiting factor when crafting
high-end gear, as it can be acquired once every two weeks by combining
two
Fractured Spark of Omens and 250
Valorstones.
At the start of a tier, it will be possible to craft two pieces (the first from the initial quest and the second from the initial bi-weekly reward).
It is essential to understand that your crafting strategy depends heavily on the kind of progress and therefore drops available, the speed at which you progress through the content and whatever drop you can obtain early. As a result, there will not be a single best path, instead listed below will be some guidelines:
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension on the offhand weapon
and
Writhing Armor Banding is the overall best combination as it does
scale into multitarget as opposed as
Elemental Focusing Lens.
The long term solution is to directly craft both using sparks at the highest item level possible, but that does imply dropping a Mythic level Main hand through Mythic plus before entering in Mythic Raid the second week.
An alternative is to craft both main hand and offhand combo using sparks and leave wrists at lower item level, which would offer a higher spike in power at the expense of requiring an additional spark on the long term, with the understanding that crafted main hand weapons will need to be replaced by Mythic drops counterpart due item level difference.
An alternative is to craft both main hand and offhand combo using sparks and leave wrists at lower item level, which would offer a higher spike in power at the expense of requiring an additional spark in the long term, with the understanding that crafted main-hand weapons will need to be replaced by Mythic drops counterpart due to item level difference.
When doing Mythic+ content it may be more beneficial to run any combination
of Duskthread Lining or
Dawnthread Lining but doing so
requires some consideration beforehand.
Since this tier the cloak slot will be occupied by a Legendary
item, Durable Information Securing Container is very much relevant on the waist slot, and for
those who have access to raid loot,
Interloper's Silken Striders provide
additional scaling, that leaves only 2 slots open:
- Crafting the Head piece, with the drawback of -3 item levels on a equivalent Mythic track item;
- Crafting the Hands slot instead requires to pick the Head from the tier;
If no raid loot is available then the decision is simplified towards Feet slot. Worth reminding the second slot remains the Wrists.
The War Within Season 3 Tier Set for Destruction Warlock
Diabolist Season 3 Set Bonus
Bonuses for this set offer passive main stat and damage bursts triggering from with Overlord, Mother of Chaos and Pit Lord summons. The result is an increase in burst potential within 2 gcds, especially in AoE where Eye Blast is quite potent, but no rotational changes.
- 2-piece set bonus:
Warlock Diabolist 11.2 Class Set 2pc
- 4-piece set bonus:
Warlock Diabolist 11.2 Class Set 4pc
Hellcaller Season 3 Set Bonus
Bonuses for this set are centered around Wither
and
Blackened Soul passive damage, and while the resulting damage
profile changes, there are no meaningful changes in terms of gameplay, other
than trying to maximise the Shard consumption during
Malevolence and
talenting into
Bleakheart Tactics over
Hatefury Rituals.
- 2-piece set bonus:
Warlock Hellcaller 11.2 Class Set 2pc
- 4-piece set bonus:
Warlock Hellcaller 11.2 Class Set 4pc
It is important to note that achieving 4 pieces is a higher gain than having the set on the sub-optimal slots.
The ideal setup has the Head slot as the off-set piece due to a more favourable stat distribution.
Evaluating Upgrades
The easiest and more sensible way to compare multiple items is to use Raidbots' Top Gear. Here, you can input an export from the Simcraft AddOn, select the items to compare, and it will find out which of the items are best. See below for a guide on how to sim yourself.
